Exam Duration: The exam is conducted in two halves: a forenoon session and afternoon session. Each exam will be of two hours.
Types of question: The paper 1 which will be conducted in the forenoon session will have objective type questions while the paper of the afternoon session will have descriptive type questions.
Multiple choice questions: There will be 30 multiple choice questions in the forenoon paper. Each question will have four options with one correct answer. Marks will be deducted for every incorrect attempt

There's no limit to the number of attempts a candidate can have for the ISI entrance exam. The application procedure will approximately be from February to March, 2020 and the exam is on 10th May, 2020. With good preparation you'll be Able to ecrack it in one go, All the best !

1. Master’s Degree in Statistics with Physics and Chemistry at the (10+2) level; or
2. Master’s Degree in Mathematics with Statistics as a subject at undergraduate or post-graduate level, and Physics and Chemistry at the (10+2) level; or
3. BE/B Tech degree or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE).

ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) conducts an exam or an admission test every year. This exam will give you an opportunity to get admission in the Postgraduate, diploma and doctorate programs offered at Indian Statistical Institute.
- Step 1: You have to apply online for registration to appear for the entrance exam. For PG courses you have to apply on the admission portal
- Step 2: after registration, the institute will provide you an admit card. You can download the admit card from their website
- Step 3: You have to appear for the exam
- Step 4: Check the result after it gets published. ISI Kolkata results can be seen in their notice board
- Step 5: According to their marks and eligibility criteria, the candidates should prepare for their interview.
- Step 6: After interview, if the candidate is selected then He/She should complete the verification and other Formalities
- Step 7: Institute will commence their classes.
The syllabus of Examination are
- Geometry: Plane geometry. The geometry of 2 dimensions with Cartesian and polar coordinates. Equation of a line, the angle between two lines, distance from a point to a line. Concept of a Locus. Area of a triangle. Equations of circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola and equations of their tangents and normals. Mensuration.
- Algebra: Sets, operations on sets. Prime numbers, factorization of integers and divisibility. Rational and irrational numbers. Permutations and combinations, basic probability. Binomial Theorem. - Trigonometry: Measures of angles. Trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions. Trigonometric identities including addition formulae, solutions of trigonometric equations.
- Calculus: Sequences - bounded sequences, monotone sequences, the limit of a sequence. Functions, one-one functions, onto functions. Limits and continuity. Derivatives and methods of differentiation. The slope of a curve. Tangents and normals. Maxima and minima. Using calculus to sketch graphs of functions.
About the exam
The exam consists of two parts:
Part 1: 30 questions 120 marks and duration is 2 hrs MCQ
Part 2: Discipline wise section which consisting of MCQ or descriptive questions.
