what aspects should we concentrate more in inorganic chemistry especially in group elements?
Hii Deekshitha!
When you talk about inorganic chemistry, the basic concepts include the structure of the elements, their hybridization, and the reactions they undergo under different conditions. Talking about groups, you should focus on thier basic structure, how their properties vary as per groups and periods, how they react with different elements under different conditions. Also emphasise on lanthenoids and actinoides.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
how to prepare inorganic chemistry for jee
We do have JEE Knockout packages that can help you in JEE Mains preparation. You can check that at: https://learn.careers360.com/engineering/jee-main/ .
Alternatively, because the syllabus is based on your 12th, NCERT books should be your go to books. Coordination Chemistry and Chemical Bonding are the important topics that you need to practise as much as you can. Memorise the Periodic table as much as you can. The questions asked will be conceptual, concerned with structures, processes and applications. Topics like p block elements and Qualitative Analysis are important too. Attempt and solve as many sample papers you can along with atleast one mock test a week.
Explain what is chelate therapy ?
Chelate Therapy :
It usually involves the use of chelating compounds in order to remove heavy metals from human body generally.
There is growing interest in the use of chelate therapy in medicinal industry. An examples is the treatment of problems caused by the presence of metals in toxic proportions in plants/animals systems. Thus, excess of copper and iron are removed by the chelating ligands D-penicillamine and desferrioxime B via the formation of coordination compounds. EDTA is used in the treatment of lead poisoning. Some coordination compounds of platinum effectively inhibit the growth of tumors. Example Cisplatin.
Significance of cryolite in metallurgy of Aluminium ?
Hello ,
Role of Cryolite in Metallurgy of Aluminium is as follows :
Molecular Formula of Cryolite - Na3AlF6
Cryolite basically has two roles which are as follows :
1. To Decrease the melting point of the mixture from 2323 Kelvin to 1140 Kelvin
2. To Increase electrical conductivity of Al2O3 (Aluminium Oxide)
What are the postulates of Werners Theory of coordination compounds ?
Hello,
Postulates of Werner's Theory of coordination compounds.
- Central metal ion in a complex shows two types of valences primary valence and secondary valence.
- The primary valence is ionisable and satisfied by negative ions
- Secondary valence is non ionisable. It is equal to the coordination number of central metal ion or atom. It is fixed for a metal.Secondary valencies are satisfied by negative ions or neural molecules.
- The primary valence is non directional. The secondary valence is directional. Ions or molecules attached to satisfy secondary valences have characteristic spatial arrangements. Secondary valence decides geometry of the complex compound.
Difference between strong and weak field ligands ?
Hello , Difference between strong and weak field ligands are as follows :
Strong Field Ligands :
- These ligands have more field strength
- These ligands may cause rearrangement of d electrons in metal
- They generally form low spin or inner orbital complexes
- For these ligands splitting energy > pairing energy
Weak Field Ligands :
- Ligands of less field strength
- These do not cause rearrangement of d electrons in metal.
- They generally form high spin or outer orbital complexes.
- For these ligands splitting energy < pairing energy.
What are the limitations of Valence bond theory ?
Hello,
Limitations of Valence bond theory:
This theory has a number of limitations which are as follows :
- Has a number of assumptions.
- Does not give quatitative interpretation of magnetic data
- Does not explain the colour shown by complexes
- Could not predict tetrahedral or squareplanar shape for coordination number 4
- Could not distinguish between strong and weak field ligands
Even though it can explain many other things but it still has the above limitations.Hope this helps.
Explain the shape of BF3 using VSEPR theory ?
Hello ,
The shape of BF3 is bent T shaped and it can be explained using VSEPR theory as shown below :
- The central atom Br has seven electrons in valence shell
- There are three bond pairs and two lone pairs
- According to VSEPR theory, these will occupy the corners of trigonal bipyramid
- The two lone pairs will occupy the equitorial positions to minimize lone pair-lone pair repulsions which is greater the bp-bp repulsions
- The axial fluorine atoms will be bent towards the equitorial fluorine in order to minimize repulson .
Hope This Helps .
Explanation of brown ring chemical test ?
Hello ,
Brown ring test :
In brown ring test dilute FeSO4 is addedto an aqueous solution of nitrate ion.Concentrated H2SO4 is then added along the sided of the test tube. A brown ring is observed at the interface between the solution and H2SO4 layers indicates the presence of nitrate ion in the solution
NO3? + 3Fe^+2 + 4H+ -----> NO + 3Fe^3+ + 2H2O
[Fe(H2O)6]^2+ + NO ------> [Fe(H2O)5(NO)]^2+ + H2O
What is Mischerlichs Law of isomorphism ?
Hello,
This Law of isomorphism or the law of isomorphism is the approximate law with suggest the Crystal composition that is composed of same number of similar elements tend to demonstrate isomorphism. This law can also be stated that the substances which have similar composition and same crystal structure with constant elctronic configuration are said to be isomorphous substances.
I hope your question has been answered properly.
All the best!
