You have not mentioned that you belong to OBC-CL or OBC-NCL.

Considering the last year cutoff of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal if You belong to OBC-CL (Creamy Layer) category , there is a little chance to get admission in Information Technology branch. While if you belong to OBC-NCL (Non Creamy Layer) category  you could easily get admission in Information Technology  branch.

Taking up a department depends mostly on your interest and the closing ranks, of course.

Now all the above mentioned departments ard different from each other in terms of the curriculum and syllabus. So pick your department as per your interest or if not sure, use the closing rank to determine the best department.

I am sorry to tell you but a general rank of 12300 and an SC rank of 560, I don't think you will be able to get admission in Jadavpur University. You are in a very tight position and the chances of getting admission seem bleak. I hope this information was helpful!

Yet, there has been no official declaration of the registration dates and registration fees. But as far from some source, the money that has to be deposited as registration fees is something around Rs.10.7k. Stay  tuned with the official notice for the same at the official respective site.

If your home state is West Bengal and you had a rank of 834 so it seems that you can get the mechanical engineering branch at the Jadavpur University Kolkata as the last year spot round rank closing was around 840 for the mechanical.

So cross your fingers and hope the trends also continues this year and most probably your counselling will be held in the first phase , so in all you have the chances to get the mechanical engineering branch at JU and hope for the best.

With this rank you should be able to get a branch in Jadavpur University. However, getting the top branches there will be difficult. Although if you are solely focused on college and do not care about the branch then you can definitely go for it.
