I am a btech student and i am preparing for IIT jam mathematics exam so how should i study / manage both bsc Mathematics and btech Mathematics ?
Hey,
There is no much difference in the Bsc and BTech degree. In fact BTech degree covers most of the Bsc syllabus.
In order to get yourself started I will suggest you to first start solving the past year papers in order to see where you stand as well as to see or analyse the important part of the portion you are weak in and you need more practice.
Trust me Into Jam won't be a tough call for you if you have gone through your B-Tech degree seriously.
All the very best.
Thank you
I got 623 rank in iit jam mathematics 2021. Which possible colleges are there where i can get admission through this rank.
Hello Pankaj,
Unfortunately your rank is not sufficient to get admission in any IIT in mathematics, as the last cutoff for mathematics is 523, you need to get between 200- 480 rank so that you can get admission in any IIT in mathematics.
IIT Hyderabad,IIT ROPAR, IIT indore are three College where you can get admission easily if you get rank below 400.
I hope it helps.
Best of luck

Topicwise weightage of IIT JAM MATHEMATICS 2021 exam
Hello,
As per the previous year trends, maximum weightage has been provided to differential calculus followed by linear algebra, sequence and series, differential equation, integral calculus, and vector calculus. But, preparing for all the topics in the syllabus is equally important as well since we never know if the similar pattern will be followed in the time to come.
You can go through the following books for the topics in the syllabus:
- For functions of one variable and two real variable you can use Mathematical Analysis by S.C. Malik,Mathematical Analysis by Apostol,Principle of Mathematical Analysis by Rudi
- For Integral Calculus, you can use Mathematical Analysis by H.C. Malik,Calculus by Thomas & Finny/Integral Calculus by Gorakh Prasad
- For Vector Calculus, you can use Geometry & Vectors by Vasishtha/ Calculus by Thomas & Finny
- For Differential Equations you can use Ordinary Differential Equations by Earl.A.Coddington/Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems by Boyce-Diprima/Ordinary Differential Equation by Peter J. Collins, G.F. Simmons, M.D. Raisinghania
- For Real Analysis you can use Real Analysis by H. L. Royden
- For Linear Algebra you can use Schaum's Series/Gilbert Strang by Linear Algebra & its applications/Modern Algebra by A.R. Vasishtha/University Algebra by N.S. Gopalakrishan
