I am a student of class 12th ... I am an arts student... how can i become judge and what type of subject i choose
Hi,
The selection of candidate for Judicial Service is through written exam followed by personal interview. The successful candidate will be appointed as Judge in respective Judicial Service. You should go for commerce/arts stream. Political science is most important subject and economics .
Once you have got your bachelor’s in Law degree, the next thing is to qualify for the Judicial Services Exam or the PCS (J)-Provincial Civil Service-Judicial Examination. The competitive exam is taken by state authorities under the supervision of the respective high courts to appoint the members for the lower judiciary. The age limit for the exam varies between 21 to 35 years. The eligibility for the exam is to have a degree in LLB and work experience of a minimum of 7 years. The exam is conducted in three stages which involve Preliminary, Mains and interviews. The questions asked in the Preliminary exam are objective-based while the Mains paper is subjective in nature. In India, around 24 states conduct the exam with each state having its own eligibility criteria. Before applying for the exam, it is advisable to go through the requirements. The syllabus for the licensure exam covers subjective topics like Criminal Law , Penal Code, Constitution besides the topics on General Knowledge, Aptitude and Reasoning and Language.
Acquiring the power and position to strike that gavel requires certain requisites. Educational qualifications and experience are not enough to become a Judge. Owing to the sensitivity of cases and intricacies involved in jurisprudence, the role of a judge is highly critical. The selection of candidates for the judgeship is administered by experts from the field who evaluate their profile on various parameters.
Besides meeting the requirements for the position, the candidate should possess the following skills :-
- Critical Reasoning Skills
- Objective Analysis
- Careful Listening Skills
- Unbiased Decision Making
- Reading Comprehension
- Empathy
- Writing Skills
Hope this helps.

why was vikramaditya known as the greatest judge of india can you reproduce any story of his judgment
hello aspirant...
hope you are doing good.
Vikramaditya ruled over parts of India in the first century BCE, and popular legend attributes the beginning of the Vikrama Samvat era to him in 57 BCE. He appears in hundreds of traditional Indian legends, including the well-known Vikram and Betaal, based on Baital Pachisi.
he is considered the greatest judge as he always used his wit and wisedom to settle any dispute. there are many examples for this judgements like in one instance, two women came to him with a baby and they both alleged that the baby is their baby. the then time has no DNA tests right, then King ordered a soldier to cut the baby into two parts and share the parts between the two ladies.
listening to this order, every one in the court left shocked and the true mother started weeping and requested the king not to do so and give the baby to the other lady whereas the other lady is standing still unaffected even after listening to that order.
then the king Vikramaditya came to a conclusion that the lady who requested to give away the baby is the real mother as she worried if the order is put in action, the baby would rather die and gave the baby to the original mother and then it is said that the king punished the other lady.
There are some other stories like this which proves his wisdom.
Hope this information helps you...
All the best.

Hello,
You cannot become a district judge simply passing 12th standard, there are various stages and pre-requisite educational qualifications that you have to achieve in order to achieve the aim you have set for yourself, first of all if you're in 12th or passed 12th then you may consider pursuing integrated law courses for a duration of five years, it comes in many forms such as BA-LLB/ BBA-LLB/ BCA-LLB/ BCom-LLB/ BSc-LLB to name a few, admission is generally done through entrance tests such as CLAT/AILET/BLAT/LFAT/LSAT or state level exams such as MAH CET LAW/KLEE/AP LAWCET/TS LAWCET etc,
After completing your graduation course in law, you can enroll yourself as an advocate in a Bar Council, you have to pass All India Bar Examination.
Candidates who clear AIBE are given 'Certificate of Practice' by the BCI which make them eligible to practice in court of law.
In addition to this, having practical experience in courts add a greater degree of value to one's growth in the career of law, for recruitment of district judge which is notified by respective state government including written test/oral interview, candidates are required to have a service of seven years of experience as an lawyer.

I am 24, I am currently working. I want to become a judge. Can I do LLB through distance learning to become a judge. And is practicing as a lawyer necessary for becoming a judge?
hey there
hope you are doing well
No, Bar Council of India (Which regulates lawyers profession)does not recognize any distance education degree for LLB. Therefore, even if you managed to obtain one, you will not be able to practice in court with that degree.
there is no need to practice law for lawyers in India to become a Judge.it is not necessary to have a experience certificate for a judge. Only the judges need to pass the judiciary exam.
