BSc Biomedical Science or BSc Life Science? Which one is better and which one offers more opportunities?
The difference between the two is as follows:
BSc Biomedical Science: Biomedical Science deals with developing knowledge or technologies in healthcare or public health. It revolves around the biology of human health and diseases and also covers more specialized topics such as human nutrition, human physiology, and pharmacology.
Job opportunities:
After a BSc in biomedical science, you could either go for Masters's and get into the research and development sector. If you have a knack for experimenting research might. Be the right way to go, as you can contribute to changes in this field of study.
Also, opt for a Masters's abroad for better exposure.
Another option is to become a biological scientist, pharmacist, biomedical engineer
Future Scope:
It is one of the branches that are unexplored and is also very competitive. But it is rewarding and owing to the making India a research powerhouse there are bound to have more job opportunities in the future.
BSc in LIFE sciences: is a natural science and deals with the study of plants, animals, humans, and microorganisms.
Job opportunities:
Researcher, pathologist, immunologist, horticulturist, nutritionist
You could either go for higher studies and get into research work eventually or get a job after BSc. You would have better opportunities after higher studies though.
Future scope:
Life science has a good amount of opportunities in India as well as abroad.
The starting salary package of both these fields is less initially. Also, at the end of the day, it depends upon what are you more interested in. These branches are slowly picking up opportunities in India, and the opportunities that are there are very competitive. So you need to stand out from other candidates.
I hope this helps!
Thank you!
im doing master in medical laboratory technology..i have subject of biochemistry, microbiology, pathology.do it fall under life science in csir net?
Hi
Sorry for late reply. If you think you can prepare and do well in life sciences category then proceed and apply for it.. look at the syllabus first and question papers I suggest its not a good idea if you are only familiar with half of the syllabus the questions are not just based on one half and they have negative marking so don't risk because its not free they take fees..you belong to health science or allied sciences category and both csir net and ugc net don't have such categories..the closest subject I could find related to yours was the social medicine and community health subject i n UGC net. Now I am a MSc physics and I have applied for electronic science in UGC net many times as it was one of the subjects I did in PG and I was eligible and honestly it was tough because i was not familiar with many topics in the syllabus as my specialization was physics not electronic science but my oversmart friend who loved electronics cleared it after a few attempts so if you are like him give it a try but one more fact was that he was not just MSc physics but Mtech in cryogenic engineering from IIT kharagpur too so he literally did rocket science ... UGC net allows subject closest to yours if not exactly the same. CSIR NET aren't strict either they are not JAM or JEST to make rules tough. If you think you can manage...apply under life sciences category and appear for the exam if the application form has drop down list and it doesn't have your qualification then it might be a problem. Then the application won't go further this way at least you will know if you can give or not.
now last but not the least you don't require net qualification to become a lecturer or asst professor in your field. If its for other purposes you can as well appear.
let me know if you have any other query.

what is the syllabus for gatb exam for biotechnology and can a student from bsc life science give the exam?
GAT-B exam has two parts in it
PART- A:
This will have 60 compulsory multiple choice questions of the level of 10+2 from PCMB subjects. 1 mark is awarded for every correct answer and 0.5 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
PART-B:
The questions will be asked from Bachelor's level with Life science and Biotechnology domains. There will be 100 questions out of which you will have to attempt 60 questions. 3 marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
The syllabus of GAT-B is as follows:
1. Biomolecules
2. Viruses
3. Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell structure
4. Molecular structure of genes and chromosomes
5. Principles of Micrology
6. History of Immunology
7. Major Bioinformatics resources and search tools
8. Restriction and modification enzymes
9. Totipotency
10. Animal cell structure
11. Chemical engineering principles applied to biological cycles

what is the elegibility for gatb and jnuceeb exams for msc biotechnology? can a student pursuing bsc life science give these exams?
Gat-b and jnuceeb are the same examinations. Earlier the examination were conducted by jnu but now it's conducted department of biotechnology hence it's renamed to gat-b.
Coming to the eligibility criteria, students who are Undergraduate can apply, thus its a competitive exam for applying for the Postgraduate. If you're an Msc student and want to do Mtech, then also you can give the Gat-b examination. Gat-b examination paper pattern consists of two parts: Part A, containing 60 mcq question containing 1marks compulsorily to attend and Part B contains 100 mcq questions but you can attend any 60questions.
Yesss students from bsc livescience can give these examination for further studies.
You can go to the official site to apply for the examination:

I want to opt bsc life science. Can i use biology, physical education and painting/english in best four??
The best of four methodology of calculation is entirely dependent on the instruction of the college or university, you wish to take admission in. Now if you see for every subject there are some compulsory subject you should keep in your best four. English is one of the compulsory subject you have to keep in best 4. Now every university have different eligibility for every subject. For example, if anyone wants to get admitted in BSc Physics, the best four must have Physics and Mathematics but some universities only have the eligibility to keep physics compulsorily. Thus it can't be said what you can take or can't based on arbitrary conceptions. Its entirely dependent on your university/college norms.
If you aren't sure I would recommend you to contact the college/university admission cell and they will surely assist you.
I hope this answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
