With 96.20 percentile, your category rank shall be around 10,000-12,000. However, the cut off for OBC in Mechanical doesn't really go beyond 5,000-6,000.
You should try harder in the April attempt. For now, your chances are less.

It totally depends on which field you are interested.
MNIT is a very reputed and top class college with high placement records over the years for ece branch.You can go for it.
But on the other hand the colleges like NIT TRICHY,WARANGAL and SURATHKAL are the top NITs and has better records than MNIT.
