People plan on serving as a consultant for a number of years before moving up to higher positions. However, others see consulting as a long term career. The job is relatively stable and pays well but keep in mind hours are tough and your schedule is somewhat erratic.
Some businesses and agencies strongly prefer a management consultant to hold a master's degree. A master's in business administration or a related field may give you an edge over the competition on the job market.
Keep in mind you may have to work for a few years in a low level position, such as an administrative assistant or analyst, before you get a chance to do management consulting. Businesses run on hierarchies and you have to prove your worth through long term hard work in order to gain your dream position.
You can even do MBA in the related course and widen your scope and growth.
The Institute of Management Consultants of India (IMCI), is the premier body of management consulting professionals and the only registered institute of established management consultancy firms and practicing individuals in the country.
You can check the details here .
Good luck.

Hello everyone,.. Im a mechanical engineering graduate.. I would like to do MBA in IIM... how can I prepare to get to it
Many students after Engineering prefer to do MBA. But the important shift is mainly from technical to management.
Also if you have aim to get admission in top IIM's or say IIM's then the following things are considered.
Apart from CAT score there is GD/PI/Extempore in the selection process and the criteria differs in all IIMs. To get into top IIM's you need above 99.5 percentage and even top institutes like FMS (DU) almost the same percentile.
There are new IIM's which you get into if you achieve 95 percentile and above.
To apply for CAT you need minimum 50% in your graduation though you can still apply if you are in your final year.
Check the CAT eligibility here.
Even applications have started for CAT. Check iimcat.ac.in
I am sharing the selection process of top 3 IIM's below:
CAT preparartion
Once you understand the syllabus and exam pattern then you start with giving previous year tests. You will get to know your strong and weak areas and accordingly you can plan to work upon the weak areas.
Follow a symstematic routine and be sincere with it.
Read the newspaper editorial daily. Read the subject you are not really comfortable with. You can refer Hindu editorial for refernce.
You will be required to give online-offline mocks for performance and revision analysis and later you can track your improvement.
It is important to analyse your mock before moving ahead.
Let me know if you have any other concern.
All the best.
Hello sir, I am very confused about my career I am graduated from N. C. W. E. B (b. Com) maharaja agrshen college my marks 49.58 (obc)
Your percentage is very less. for most of the professional courses minimum percentage required is 50% and you are falling short of it.
It is suggested to give improvisation of graduation subjects or else practically you will have to study in distance for masters as well.

What is the qualification for management consultant
Hi, You need to do MBA and for that you will have to give various managmenet exams liek CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT etc.
Management consultants help businesses improve their performance and grow by solving problems and finding new and better ways of doing things. It's not just in the private sector either – many firms work with public sector organisations to help develop their services.
Go ahead. There is a good scope in it.
All the best.
Is there any scope of management consultancy in India?
IT has good scope. Management consulting is one of its kind domain, wherein you get to work with various industries/sectors and solve the problems (as reported by your client of course). India, being a developing economy and enormous potential to widen/develop industrial interface, needs this domain more than anything to shape it up.
