Sir, what is the scope of mechanical(production) engineering?
Production Engineers have a bright future, much more than you think:
1. Less Competition: In India, there are very few colleges offering Industrial and Production Engineering So, cracking exams like GATE and getting a good rank in it indeed will be a cakewalk. Thus, fulfilling your dream of getting into an IIT.
2. Similar to Mechanical Engineering: Syllabi of ME and IPE are very much ( 80% approx) same. So, you can opt for core branch (I.e. ME) and are also eligible to appear for exams involving Mechanical subject( Engineering Services Examination & GATE). Increasing your chances to get into a good Public Sector Undertaking company.( To be very frank , very very few PSUs take Production Engineers)
3. Bright Future if you want to go abroad: writing your GRE or getting a foreign placement ( yes, you heard it right National Institute of Industrial Engineering offer foreign placements on completion of PG) as an Industrial Engineer will lead you to be in-charge of Mechanical Engineers. Abroad, Industrial Engineers have a bigger role to play in comparison to their mechanical counterparts. They have to manage them
4. Being a Management oriented subject ( yes you will study economics, production planning and management, Organisational Research, Industrial Engineering and Marketing) , getting an MBA degree will increase your value many fold.
My keam 2018 rank is 26520. OBC BX category. Have any chance get mechanical production engineering
Don't be dishearten apply for private colleges
Best of luck

What is mechanical production engineering?scope?
HI KARTHIK,
MECHANICAL PRODUCTION ENGINEERING is a very good stream if you want to go for Manufacturing department as this stream mainly teaches you about the machines which are required to do certain manufacturing like milling machine, lathe machine etc etc. This is a core branch and is always in very high demand, also you can get placements in this stream but i may remind you that in the beginning the payscale would be lower than other streams.
THANK YOU!!
