Is there any probability to get a seat in NEIGHRIMS, MEGHALAYA with around 595 score in NEET 2022 under OBC category?
Hello aspirant,
Hope you are doing good
According to previous year's cut off trends candidates from general category required to score around 600+ marks, candidates from OBC or other category required to score 500-500+ for MBBS in Meghalaya. There are chances that you may get admission in NEIGHRIMS if you have scored 595 in NEET since you belong to OBC category as you have mentioned. As per the state counselling, 85% of the seats are reserved by State Quota so you can apply through that too if you belong to that particular state. To get a seat.in any NIT candidates has to appear inJee mains exam with a sc ore of atleast 90 percentile of marks for general candidate. But for EWS candidates the percentile of marks in jee mains is 85-80 percentile of marks in jee mains for below category NIT like NIT Goa,NIT Hamirpur,NIT Agartala,NIT Srinagar,NIT Nagpur,NIT Silchar, the rank required for these NITs mentioned above within aiq 30,000.As you have the rank of 28,000 in jee mains so you have a chance for admission in any of the NITs among 31NITs in India.
Being a north indian, Should I join NIT Meghalaya Cse? Will it be a right decision?
Dear Aspirant,
The choice of joining NIT Meghalaya is completely upto what you are interested in and what your comfort zone is.
There are a few factors to consider.
1. NIT Meghalaya is a very new campus and hence the faculty, alumni network, course structure, internship.opportunities are all very sloppy.
2. If you aren't looking for continuing in engineering after this, then you can definitely choose Meghalaya campus and you'll be able to get the NIT tag and pursue whatever your passionate about.
3. If you are interested in getting into software companies or engineering after this, then choose some well established private colleges like VIT, Amrita, Manipal.
4. If you are getting core branches in other NITs choose that and learn programming , do software related internships etc.
Hope this helps you in making a decision
Is NIT Meghalaya CSE worth joining? Is it safe for girls? How is the climate in Meghalaya?
Hi,
NIT Meghalaya is a newer NIT as compared to most of the other NITs. It was established in 2010, in Shillong. Students often complain about its not-so-good infrastructure and location/transport problem because of the current temporary campus. However, its permanent campus is under development in Cherrapunji.
Now, regarding your query, CSE department at NIT Meghalaya is known to have bagged the most number of job offers in the past years. Placement records are near about 95%.
The faculties are well experienced and good. Research work, hands on practise is provided to the students. Curriculum is well structured and flexible.
Meghalaya is known for its breathtaking scenic beauty and of course, rains. The rainy period of the year lasts for about 9.8 months.
On the basis of student reviews, it is safe for girls. It has separate accommodation for girls and separate for boys.
Here are the genuine student reviews who have studied/are studying from NIT Meghalaya -

This is all the information I could provide about the institution, it is upto you to decide now, whether it is worth it for you or not.
Good luck.
I need some help in choosing course after 12th I took PCB and now Ill be appearing for NEET but unfortunately my preparation is not going well so I decided to take BSC but I dunno Bsc in which subject. I am from Meghalaya please help me choose my course.
Hi aspirant,
It is absolutely okay if you are not prepared well for the NEET examination and decided to choose another subject but you must understand which subject jn bsc has better future opportunities.
See, I would suggest you to go for professional consent rather thaj bsc because alone bsc will not provide you benefit and further you need to study for better reach in your field.
See, there are various fields you can apply in bsc course such as
- Bsc in Nursing
- Bsc in Microbiology
- Bsc in zoology
- General bsc
But apart from these there are other courses as well such as:
- Bachelor of pharmacy
- Bachelor of Homeopathic medical science
- B.A.M.S
Be confident in which field you are taking because it will decide your future life.
So choose wisely.

Civil in iiiest shibpur is going to be a better choice as iiest has its own brand value while other institutes you have mentioned are nits but they are somewhat lower nits and do not have the same status that the other older nits carry on the other hand iiest shibpur s quite old and attracts brilliant minds from all over india also civil is not a very bad branch as people often think it to be so there no problem taking that also option of branch change is always there at your disposal
