I think you won't be able to Join Merchant Navy after BE/ B.tech in Information Technology. In Merchant Navy only those candidates can be recruited who has a degree of any of these courses, have a look-

3. B.E/ B.tech Naval Architecture and offshore Engineering

4. B.E/ B.tech Petroleum Engineering

5. B.E/ B.tech Mechanical Engineering

6. B.E/ B.tech Harbour and Ocean Engineering

7. B.E/ B.tech Civil Engineering

8. B.E/ B.tech Electronics and Electricals Engineering

9. B.E/ B.tech Marine Catering

As you are not a holder of any of the aforementioned degrees, there is scope for you in Merchant Navy. There are a lot of other opportunities going on, explore the other opportunities or government sector jobs.

The DNS stands for Diploma in Nautical Science. It is a pre sea training course affiliated to Indian Maritime University and approved by Directorate General of Shipping.

The minimum eligibility criteria to take admission in the DNS course is,

-minimum age of 25 years

-10+2 from a recognized university with a minimum marks of 50%.

- Should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2.

Merchant navy is a fleet of ships that is responsible for transporting heavy goods from one country to another. It is one of the essential parts of international trade as most of the import and export are done through ships. The starting salary for those in the merchant navy can be anywhere from Rs.15,000/- to 8 lakhs per month. Deck cadets can get paid Rs.20,000/-to Rs. 30,000/- per month and Deck Officers get paid Rs.1, 50,000/- monthly. The pay scale can also be different and depend on the company persons are employed with. All crew members and officers are provided with free meals on board the ships. Some like the senior officers are also allowed to bring their families on board. The highest salary in the Merchant Navy is for the post of Captain which is around Rs. 8,65,000 to 20,00,000 per month.

Yes you can apply to many jobs after completing ITI. Because every department needs ITI trainers apart from other posts. You can join merchant navy as a rating on deck or on engine side. You can either be an engine fitter or a pump man on ship. There are futher training courses available to join ship. Get certification from class society so that you can be an approved welder as a class society so your scope will increase. As per the requirement many skilled professionals are needed for ship and many company are searching for them officers are plenty but skilled labour’s are lesser.

Hello student yes you're eligible for Merchant Navy as NIOS is a recognized board and student passed from NIOS are eligible to pursue Merchant Navy. However eligibility criteria vary from college to college so you need to fulfill the eligibility criteria of the respective college in which you're willing to pursue Merchant Navy.

ELIGIBILITY - Candidates must passed or appearing class 12 in physics chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 60 percent marks from a recognized board.
