PHYSICAL FITNESS: Physical fitness is of utmost importance for a career at sea. A certificate of fitness from a registered medical practitioner is mandatory for admission into a course. Is BBA shipping can be called as merchant navy course?
dear aspirant,
BBA shipping and Merchant navy course may somehow sound similar to you but they are very different from each other.
starting with the basic meaning-
Merchant navy officers are employed by commercial shipping companies to work on all kinds of seagoing vessels, such as cruise liners, cargo ships, tankers and hovercraft. also, they have the responsibilities of their crew, such as the loading of cargo and the use of machinery. whereas,
BBA Shipping is a management education course that focuses on the shipping sector, the course also covers aspects of shipping, such as – liner trade, port operations and charting, customs procedure, but all of them are very different from the products that are being transported by the merchant navy officers.
the responsibilities in both the fields are very different and the working duration in merchant navy can be continuous and that too upto a continuous stretch of 6 months, which is not possible in BBA shipping course.
Hope that helps
All the best
