After completion of 12th class, interested candidates can appear for the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) or the All India Merchant Navy Entrance Exam.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility for joining merchant navy is finishing class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

hi,

yes you can join merchant navy after b.tech in mechanical engineering.  as mechanical and marine engineering has many subjects in common that will be easier for you to do this course.

you can do 1 year Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) course after mechanical engineering   to enter merchant navy.

Hello Aspirant,

After completing 10+2 EXAMS there are mostly 3 ways to join Merchant Navy

  • Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS)
  • B.sC in Nautical Science
  • B. Tech (Marine Engineering)

Hey Maneesh,

You can't change the SSB center if the SSB center is not done by your choice. They will choose where you need to go for SSB. The allowances will be given for transportation only for you and maybe there will be no allowances for the parent's transportation. As

Candidates who want to join Merchant Navy should have a Bachelors degree in either Nautical Science or Marine Engineering.

By doing a one year programme 'Graduate Marine Engineering' is important for you to do to become eligible for Merchant Navy.
