Not only that, but rivers are used to transport a lot of indigenous products to other nations. As a result, a merchant marine officer and his crew are able to transport products from one location to another. Working with goods or humans, or controlling them, is referred to as management. Cooperation and coordination of a company's actions are required to meet specified goals. Management is also a production aspect that works in tandem with machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Supervision- They manage the operation and maintenance of deck machinery such as winches and cranes, as well as the monitoring and maintenance of safety, firefighting, and life-saving equipment. They also supervise the ship to ensure that the highest levels of health and safety are maintained. Work planning and scheduling, decision-making, performance and compliance oversight, offering suggestions and team-building, and sustaining organisational performance are all common supervisory duties.
- Maintenance of equipment-Officers must also run and maintain the ship's mechanical and electrical equipment, handle power generation and distribution systems, as well as refrigeration, ventilation, and pumping systems, and carry out routine equipment inspections and maintenance.
