what is the metallurgical and material science engineering and placements
The metallurgical engineering branch of one of the oldest and reputed branches all over the world. And metallurgical engineering is a core branch. On the other hand material science is not a core branch. And in India the demand of core branches are more than sub part branch in engineering field.
In metallurgical branch you have to work with a variety of metals to design new products, refine the collection process, and create different blends of metal to suit specific needs. A metallurgical engineer's job is to design methods for separating metal from the rest of the components, with consideration for the environment.
In material science engineering you have to work with metals, ceramics, and plastics to create new materials. You have to develop, process, and test materials used to create range of p roducts from aircraft wings, biomedical devices, computer chips, etc.
Both the branches are very good in their own perspective.
The placements are all depend upon quality of the students. But in general the metallurgical branch has a good placement record over material science. In iits you will get an average package of 16lakhs in metallurgy branch. But sometimes it can go beyond 30 lakhs per annum.
Is Metallurgical and materials engineering best for career? Please give an introduction about this field...
Hello aspirant!!
Metallurgists develop different ways of processing metals and converting them into products which are useful for humans. They study the science of metals and also conduct various types of research in the respective field. They primarily work in the iron and steel industrial areas and research laboratories.
Metallurgists are material scientists who specialize in metals such as steel, aluminium, iron, copper etc. They also work with alloys to create other elements to create different types of materials. They are also known as material science engineers or metallurgical engineers.
The metallurgical field is extremely diverse and there are numerous employment opportunities available for metallurgists in every industry and enterprise that is into production, buying, selling or manufacturing of metals or metallic products. Metallurgists are also found in the R&D department of various industries and factory units. There is a great demand for metallurgy professionals in industries as the world today cannot function without the plentiful supply of metal and alloys. This is one of the reason that metallurgists command good salaries. Apart from this, they can find for relevant employment opportunities in Public Sector Units (PSUs).
Top Recruiting Companies for Metallurgists are:-
- BHEL

GOOD LUCK!
being a girl can I get a seat in vit having a rank one lakh 4 thousand..chemical or metallurgical branch
It depends on the students response to colleges. A Ranklist is prepared based on marks of candidates in the qualifying exam. VITEEE Cut off is the rank for admission to various engineering programs offered in the campuses of VIT University. Candidates who will score above closing rank will be considered eligible for admission. It must be noted that the University does not declare any official VITEEE Cutoff.

How is he placement scenario in Mtech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in IITs/IISc?
hi,
see the placement is good for iisc or old iits like iit kharagpur, iit delhi, iit bombay, iit kanpur, students get placement in core companies which are closely related with materials science,
however for new iits the placement scenario is not good for core engineering branches, students wither go for teaching lines or may appear in IT companies different consultant position job roles.

which branch is better environmental engineering or metallurgical and materials engineering???
Hi Alpesh
In terms of future scope, environmental engineering is a growing branch, and metallurgical engineering a slow declining branch . Because of rising concerns surrounding climate change, more and more engineers are needed by the public and private organisations that are skilled in energy and waste management. Policy makers too require the expertise of these engineers/specialists to make more nature friendly decisions
is pcm 45% eligible for metallurgical and materials engineering at Maharaja sayajirao University Baroda??
Hello,
The eligibility criteria for admission in metallurgical and material engineering course a candidate must have passed the Intermediate examination (10+2) of the Board of Intermediate Education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as subjects or any other examination.
