My domicile is Karnataka and I belong to general category. I appeared for JEE 2020 mains. I got 67 rank in Karnataka CET-2020 exam. Do I need to enrol for CET councelling for securing seat in NIT Surathkal under home state category? Please advise
Hi,
Admission to nits is taken only on the basis of jee main rank. The Admission to NITK and other centrally funded technical institutes for UG courses are manged by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
The JEE main april session is going to held in the month of September after the declaration of results counselling process will start for nits.
Although you have a very good rank in kcet but on you the basis of kcet rank you can not get admission to nits. But to have on a safer side you can apply for kcet counselling for admission to the other Karnataka State engeneering colleges.
Hope this helps.
What will be the fees for 4 years in NITK Mangalore if we get 99 percentile in jee?
Hi dear,
Your fee structure will change after 1st semester. In your 1st semester you have to pay around 86k as your college fee and around 31k as your hostel and mess fee. after 1st semester you have to not pay one time fee and other fee so it will decrease after 1st semester. If you have income under 1 lacs then you will get 100 percent tuition fee waiver I.e. 62500 or if your income is between 1 lac to 5 lacs then you have to pay 1/3 of tuition fee. You can also check fee structure here
Hope it helps
can i get nit surathkal, Warangal, Calicut from civil department regarding any branch..? my score 391 obc..i got nit surat in wre from special rounds.. i want to float.. can u plz suggest?
hi,
see I assume you are asking for gate counselling, see at this score it would be quite difficult to get the mtech seat in civil engineering in nit suratkhel or warrangel, or calicut since these nits comes under tier 1 nits. however for nit suratkhel you have chances in Environmental Science & Technology in obc category. in nit calicuit NSR ROUND you have chances in Materials Science & Technology.
however you may use careers360 gate college predictor tool to know about your probable college,

Minimum needed percentile for getting seat in NITK.Home state Karnataka and OBC category
Hello,
Cut off depends on the branch you are applying. So the cut off is different for each branch. And cut off changes every year depending on number of candidates appeared, difficulty of exam. So based on previous year cut off trends you need to score minimum 95 percentile or score in between 130-150 marks in JEE Main so that you have decent chances of getting seat.
i got 86.07 percentile jee mains jan. I am also pwd female general candidate. Will I get any good nit? like vnit, nitk, nit warangal?
Hello aspirant
With 86.07 percentile and being a PWD female candidate, you have strong candidature to get admitted in good NITs. During councelling, opt for the colleges of your choice and can be assured to get good colleges.
Good luck.
Prepare well for next examinations.
Thanks
Which one of these would be better in terms of Placements, Infrastructure and Faculty ? NIT Surathkal Thermal Engineering or NIT Calicut Thermal Science Course ?
Hello Aspirant,
NIT Calicut ranks 23 by NIRF while NIT Surathkal has NIRF rank of 13 which makes it better than NIT Calicut and other NITs.
Talking about faculties, NIT Surathkal has more better faculty where most of them are from thermal backgrounds.
Placements are satisfactory in both the NITs but for the deeper higher knowledge NIT Surathkal is far better.
Infrastructure is good in both the NITs.
Taking these factors into consideration, I will suggest you to go for NIT Surathkal Thermal Engineering course.
All the best!!
What score should i get to get into NIT Surathkal/NIT WATANGAL,CSE?
Hello Aspirant,
As we know that NIT Surathakal and NIT Warangal are among the top NITs of India and hence there is too much competition for that and you are asking for CSE branch which is the most demanding branch at present, so you have to score quite good marks to get seat.
As per the previous years cut-off :-
@ NIT Surathakal :-
- Male :-
- OBC : 2627(HS) & 623(OS)
- EWS : 1102(HS) & 248(OS)
- General : 3561(HS) & 2156(OS)
- SC : 1101(HS) & 285(OS)
- ST : 336(HS) & 105(OS)
- Female :-
- OBC : 7857(HS) & 2295(OS)
- EWS : 4610(HS) & 414(OS)
- General : 4920(HS) & 3874(OS)
- SC : 2337(HS) & 682(OS)
- ST : 1403(HS) & 552(OS)
@NIT Warangal :-
- Male :-
- OBC : 1116(HS) & 660(OS)
- EWS : 400(HS) & 272(OS)
- General : 2977(HS) & 1980(OS)
- SC : 667(HS) & 251(OS)
- ST : 217(HS) & 129(OS)
- Female :-
- OBC : 2338(HS) & 1112(OS)
- EWS : 765(HS) & 450(OS)
- General : 4632(HS) & 3840(OS)
- SC : 681(HS) & 865(OS)
- ST : 345(HS) & 206(OS)
So you can get idea from the above data that how much rank you should secure and if you ask about percentile, so you have to score 99.5 percentile or more than this and for this you have to score marks around 250 out of 300.
Note that above cut-off is of previous year and cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors.
