Being a north indian, Should I join NIT Meghalaya Cse? Will it be a right decision?
Dear Aspirant,
The choice of joining NIT Meghalaya is completely upto what you are interested in and what your comfort zone is.
There are a few factors to consider.
1. NIT Meghalaya is a very new campus and hence the faculty, alumni network, course structure, internship.opportunities are all very sloppy.
2. If you aren't looking for continuing in engineering after this, then you can definitely choose Meghalaya campus and you'll be able to get the NIT tag and pursue whatever your passionate about.
3. If you are interested in getting into software companies or engineering after this, then choose some well established private colleges like VIT, Amrita, Manipal.
4. If you are getting core branches in other NITs choose that and learn programming , do software related internships etc.
Hope this helps you in making a decision
Is NIT Meghalaya CSE worth joining? Is it safe for girls? How is the climate in Meghalaya?
Hi,
NIT Meghalaya is a newer NIT as compared to most of the other NITs. It was established in 2010, in Shillong. Students often complain about its not-so-good infrastructure and location/transport problem because of the current temporary campus. However, its permanent campus is under development in Cherrapunji.
Now, regarding your query, CSE department at NIT Meghalaya is known to have bagged the most number of job offers in the past years. Placement records are near about 95%.
The faculties are well experienced and good. Research work, hands on practise is provided to the students. Curriculum is well structured and flexible.
Meghalaya is known for its breathtaking scenic beauty and of course, rains. The rainy period of the year lasts for about 9.8 months.
On the basis of student reviews, it is safe for girls. It has separate accommodation for girls and separate for boys.
Here are the genuine student reviews who have studied/are studying from NIT Meghalaya -

Good luck.
National Institute of Technology meghalaya civil is it worthy to join??
National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, is one of the fastest growing NIT in north eastern states.
Placements:
Compared to other new NITs in NE, NIT Meghalaya has one of the finest placements.
Teaching:
This is one thing that can be bragged about. NIT Meghalaya very very nice faculty members (better than many old NITs). They are very supportive as well as well qualified.
Extra-Carricular:
Except studies, NIT Meghalaya is well involved in sports. Quite good number of sportsmen are their (which have represented the institute in other NITs/IITs). It also has other functioning clubs (like literature club, Google Student Community , Entrepreneurship cell,Robotics club, Computer club etc). It also has active wings of NSS,NCC.
Festivals:
NIT Meghalaya proudly hosts Cognitia (tech fest) and Shishir (Sports and Culture fest) each year.
Along with college festivals, even religious as well as national festivals are celebrated.
Campus:
This is one of the major problem of any new NIT. NIT Meghalaya does not have a permanent campus. Its working in a temporary campus. But all basic amenities are well provided at hostels as well as college.
which will be better mit muzaffarpur electrical of bihar or nit meghalaya mechanical engineering?
Currently MIT is better than any other low rank NITs ,It is itself a brand.
And in the recent year the performance of MIT is really nice
It is not right to say that MIT is going to become NIT very soon, but it is also true that in the upcoming year it will definitely get a good NIT rank college.
So without a doubt you should go for MIT Muzaffarpur Electrical
Is Amrita School of Engineering Coimbatore better than NIT -Srinagar, NIT -Agartala, NIT-Meghalaya, NIT-Arunachal Pradesh ?
Hi,
Yes, Amrita School of Engineering is very good than NSITs, IIITs and GFTIs (not IIIT Allahabad). But fee is quite high. ASE is really superb.
NOTE: If you are very good top student, Amrita is right place for you. If you are below average student, It is damn hard to survive with Amrita’s Syllabus and curriculum which is in par with top IITs.
For BTech, If your CBSE board score is above 90% and JEE main rank is less than 50k. You are easily survive at Amrita. (It is lower limit only. Most students at BTech will have 95% score and 10k-20k JEE main rank). Apart from your scores, you must have a very good logical reasoning and aptitude skill.
I have seen students with 10k jee rank left north NITs, NIT Trichy civil, mech, etc for Amrita CSE,ECE,AI. But still they feel hard to cop up with the syllabus.
All students at Amrita are nerd and their syllabus, curriculum, Research input make with very competitive, GATE-READY and stand in par with IITs and foreign universities.
They have very good opportunities. But for getting BTech seat in any campus, any branch, you must either get minimum JEE main rank of 80k or AEEE rank of 5k.
