i got 49.5 marks in clat can i get any nlu and i also belong to general category
Hello Archi,
In order to answer your question, we need to understand the relationship between CLAT rank and CLAT marks, and how past year cut-offs can be indicative of the general trend. Usually, every year marks required to secure a particular rank changes and do not remain constant. Because of that reason, such trends can only indicate how the result of a particular year could be.
In the CLAT 2021 exam, the lowest accepted score to achieve a rank of 2040 in the general category was 74.25, while the same score could have enabled an aspirant to secure a rank between 900-1100 in the general category in CLAT 2020. For more information refer to this article: https://law.careers360.com/articles/clat-marks-vs-rank
Going by the past trends, 49.5 marks in the general category offers very slim chances of getting an NLU. However, as mentioned earlier, the previous year's cut-offs are only indicative in nature, therefore, you may land into an NLU depending on the cut-offs of the present year. I got all india ews rank 1765 in clat 2022 . can I expect any nlu??
Hello Ktech,
Unfortunately with a rank of 1765 in EWS, your chances of getting an NLU are very slim. The reason for the same is that reservation for EWS under CLAT differs from university to university and many of them do not even offer reservations for EWS. Moreover, some universities that do offer reservations for EWS, do it for the residents of that respective state in which the university is located, which substantially reduces the number of reserved seats for EWS all over India ranking.
Though your chances of getting an NLU with that rank are slim, you may apply for the vacancies that the universities release.
Thanks
i got EWS rank 136 i clat which nlu i can get?
Hello Abhishek,
In order to answer your question, I will need to elaborate a bit on how EWS and other reservations work within the ambit of CLAT (or the consortium of NLUs). EWS ranking or any other ranking achieved in CLAT has a different number of seats allotted by respective universities. Such seats differ from university to university and can have horizontal or vertical reservations depending upon the university.
For example, NLSIU reserves 6% of the total number of seats for the Economically Weaker Sections. On the other hand, NALSAR offers 13 total seats for EWS but within that 3 are reserved for EWS that are reserved for residents of Telangana. more information for each university can be found on the official website of CLAT: https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2023/participating_universities.html
Coming to your question, with an EWS rank of 136 you can get a tier 2 NLU (but can differ on the result of that year). However, if your respective state offers EWS reservations for the residents of that particular state, then you may also get a tier 1 NLU. Hope this helps!
thanks.
i got clat 2022 all india rank 17605 and in ews category i got 1670 rank.Am I eligible to apply for nlu vacant seat
Hello Anjali,
As you are already aware, a general category rank and a quota category rank are two separate heads and are treated differently while assigning a seat to an aspirant. Every National Law University (NLU) within CLAT has a different number of seats assigned to each category (EWS, SC/ST, OBCs, etc.). Getting a seat based on a general rank or a quota rank depends on whether the seats under that specific category are already filled or not.
Coming to the present question, an aspirant is eligible to apply for a vacant seat in any of the NLUs, provided that a notification for vacant seats has been issued by the university, irrespective of his or her rank . However, getting admission through a vacant seat depends primarily on the rank of the aspirant.
Thanks
