can we do interior design with product design , is it possible??
Hi,
It depends on a few factors.
If you are driven enough you can make a living at either. Yes, some talent is required, but drive and attitude are even more important. You have to be willing to pay your dues and work long hours in either field at least for the first few jobs. You need to find out from people designing at places you would want to work at what you need in your portfolio to get a job.
It’s not enough to be the hardest working student at your school. You need to learn what it takes to get that first job. It can be a stepping stone job, but you need to talk to enough people who are where you want to be in 2, 5, 10, 15 years to set out a path for yourself to get there. You need to learn from these people what it takes and what you need in your portfolio for that first job.
Also learn about what people actually do on a day to day basis in each field and put some weight on that as well.
If you are looking for something easy to make a living at, design is not it. Other than that you can make a professional white collar living at either if you are willing to put in the work to move up to management. Moving firms and often cities every 2–3 years is often required to climb the fastest.
Choosing between these two, choose the one you are most passionate about and go after it!
Even if an interior designer were to use graphic design for their work, they would still be an interior designer because that is their primary focus. Product design can be for anyone and anything. Whether it is designing state-of-the-art audio equipment or developing complex medical diagnostic systems, the field of product design spans numerous industries, including healthcare, lifestyle, interior design, automotive, and many more.
Hope this helps.
All the best.

i get in a waiting list of 95 in industrial design(product design) in first merit list, my category is general is there any chances for me get in symbiosis institude of design pune?
Hey Young Mind
Honestly speaking Symbiosis Institute of Design is a very prestigious institute of Pune, since you are in the 95th position of the waiting list, there are 94 other applicants before you, so it would definitely be a tuff fight. But yes as per past few records of vacancy seat matrix you do have possibilities to make your chance. As an added suggestion you must not rely on one single option, keeping few backup options will be beneficial at the end.
Good luck!!!
What type of drawings and and things should be included in product design portfolio?
Your product design portfolio should include a short bio, your resume, contacts, social media links, but most importantly 3-5 case studies that showcase the full scope of your skills.Include interactive prototypes, micro animations, designs in motion, not just static designs.
Also, showcase your best work ,not all the work
