Production engineering is a mixture of manufacturing technology, engineering sciences with management science.

Automobile engineering is a branch of vehicle engineering containing elements of electrical, mechanical, software engineering as well.

Both are good at it's own place but you need to decide in which you are interested and what you have your plans for your future. If you are interested in designing then you can have a bright future although not in India but other countries. But if you are interested R and D then you might go for production as there you might get jobs easily especially in India.

Both the colleges have great reputation in the country. NIT Jalandhar is one of the best colleges which offer industrial and production engineering and many core companies come for recruitment. The average package is around 5-6 lakh per annum. 

MBM Jodhpur's one of the best branch is CSE. The placements in this branch are also great. The college is very old and have a good alumini base. 

Both the choices are good you should choose according to your interests.
