Rajasthan Technical University has a rank of  107 as country rank and 3659 as world rank.  It provides 25+ courses from different streams and performance is world class. It makes students able to face the market even as a fresher.

For admission into RTU, JEE main,REAP and RPET is considered. Rank cutoff is not given by the board. Better to get a rank below 5k which may be the secure position but can't be said as the cutoffs change every year. Apply for the college this year as per the merit list which will be given by the college during counselling.

Here is solution to your problem.

Yes you have chance to change branch in second year .The eligibility to change branch is you should have 55% in 1 semester and you do not have any back .If your result is not declared due to some reason at time of branch season then you are also not eligible.If you have tution fee wavier seat then after branch change you have to surrender that seat.The process of branch change usually take place in month of May .you have proper documentation such as category certificate,domicile,Marksheet etc.the fees for branch change in Rajasthan Technical University Kota is 375 Rupee's.

The cutoffs are declared of different branches and branches are alloted during process.

According to a notice given by RTU, following will be the cligibility criteria for change of branch -

1. The student must have passed the B.Tech. 1st Sem. examination in all components in one attempt with at least $5% marks in the aggregate.

2. The student with back papers or whose result have not been declared due to any reason will not be considered for change of branch.

3. The student admitted under physically challenged category. ex-serviceman. PIO/NRI & Kashmiri migrant will not be eligible for change of branch.

4. In case any student has applied for re-valuation of his/her marks of 1st sem. B.Tech. and the result has not been received up to the time of change of branch then such a student will not be entitled for change of branch on the basis of his/her revised result (received after the change of branch has been affected).

5. No branch change shall be permitted from one shift to the other in col leges

having two shifts permitted by AICTE.

See both the Colleges are government and having the same values and cultural life. If we talk about the average package, the RTU Kota is good then MDU. But the infrastructure of MDU is Good then RTU. That is the technical fest conducted by RTU Kota which is a national level competition in which many colleges of Rajasthan take part, where as MDU don't have these kind of level tech fest. If you want to be a govt. Employee than it's doesn't matter which college is good after all it's depends on you how you prepare your self for competitive exams.

RTU seat is allotted on the basis of reap and it is a state university whereas Deemed University IIIM has its own degree and own counselling process and its seat is not allotted by reap that is only for RTU affiliated colleges. This is the only difference between the seats of both of them.

The placements in RTU Kota are quite low. About 40% of them got placed. The salary packages offered are in the range of 2.50 LPA to 5 LPA approximately. Some big companies like Wipro and Infosys visit the college every year and hire about 70 students from various streams, in which, about 30 students are from the CS and IT department.
