Currently, I applied for Mba and planned to study for SSC CGL along with Mba. I contacted some coaching centres but they only start their classes only after call-offer is announced officially. So, I decided to start self-study. What are the essential ones for self study and complete it?
Hello,
The recruitment of SSC CGL is done in four levels as mentioned below-
Tier I which is MCQs based conducted for a duration of two hours with 25 questions from each section such as English Language/General Awareness/General Intelligence and Reasoning/Quantitative Aptitude carrying 100 questions for 200 marks,
Tier II is also MCQs based test of English and Mathematics these two papers are compulsory for all posts, in case of JSO Statistics is applicable, and for AAO the paper of General Studies(Economics & Finance) is applicable, all the papers individually carry 200 marks.
Tier III is descriptive test conducted in offline mode in English/Hindi for precis/letter writing/essay/application etc for 100 marks out of which 33% is the qualifying scores, it's conducted for one hour.
Tier IV: Computer Based Test/Skill Based Test/Document Verification
Interview isn't part of the recruitment process of SSC CGL anymore,
First step towards preparation of any exam is being acquainted with its syllabus, so you can download the syllabus from SSC website and take a print out, go through it, as it will help you to comprehend what to read and what to skip.
Next, comes the importance of study materials, always keep it minimal, regular practice and revision is the key here, you through the following recommended books-
- For the section of Quant, you can refer Quicker Maths by M Tyra/ Fast Track Arithmetic by Arihant Publications /Quantitative Aptitude by RS Agarwal
- For section of the English, you can refer General English by SP Bakshi or Plinth to Paramount, Wren and Martin is the best book for grammar and Word Power Made Easy is great for vocabulary section.
- For the section of Reasoning, you may refer RS Agarwal Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning by MK Pandey
- For General Awareness, Lucent's GK is is best option for static portion and when it comes to dynamic part, it's best you read newspaper on a daily basis such as The Hindu or The Indian Express, going through this will help you acquaint with latest happening and you don't have to mug up everything at the last moment.
Make a timetable, according assign number of hours to each subject, for instance, you can practice the mock papers in the weekends after five days of study, this way you can evaluate your progress as well.
SSC often repeats question, so going through previous year paper is must, this will help you in getting well acquainted with exam pattern, important topics, difficulty level of paper, marking scheme, evaluate your preparation level, you can access the same at https://competition.careers360.com/articles/ssc-cgl-question-papers
You can find free mock papers available at various competitive exam sites, use them effectively, through consistent practice it'll help you know you discover your areas of strength and weakness
Test series are highly recommended, as this exam is in online mode, unless an aspirant has good time management and has fair idea of what to attempt and what to skip, it will become a difficult task to handle.
myself Isha Sinha and I am 12th pass out students but many abhi tak Koi coaching join ne kiya Mera target medical hai abhi tak main khud to self study kar rahi thi so confused ki agar kuch subject mein basic clear nhi h toh kya achiever le skti hu . plz guide me
Hi Isha,
Since you have not been a part of any coaching as of yet and have certain basics of some subjects not cleared till date, it might not be a correct move to enroll for the achiever's batch now. While it is useful for scoring good marks, but if you have your basics uncleared, it might backfire.
However, if you are someone who is extremely determined and feel you can do pull it off by working really hard, go ahead and enroll for the same.
All the best.
Are 4:30 mins sufficient for neet self study a day
Yes 4;30 mins is enough for self study unless you get distracted in your phone or any other things.
i will recommend not to study for a specific time limit, study for as much possible as you can and always make sure you study more than 3-4hrs that will help you to get adjust and once you catch a flow in self-studying, time won't be a factor.
overall 4;30mins is absolutely sufficient for self-study a day

Are 4:30 mins sufficient for neet exam self study in a day
Hello Salvi,
Self study is one of the best type of studies. Time duration for preparing for the NEET exam depends on you. But, a minimum of 6-7 hours will be so perfect for a self study to crack the NEET exam with good marks. After learning each and every topic, just attend a test to know your capability. Based upon that you can change your strategies to prepare.

I am a 11th standard science student, and my aim is to become an IFS officer. How should I motivate myself to crack UPSC CSE and become an IFS officer?
Hello,
First of all the eligibility criteria for appearing in Indian Forest Service is passed Bachelor's degree having studied any one of the subjects amidst Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture/Forestry/ Engineering , if you wish to appear for IFS then you should have graduation in any of the aforementioned discipline as per your preference, next you're still in 11th standard, so there are still 4-5 years to go depending upon the duration of your graduation, see this exam is highly competitive, and you're still young, you may want to appear for this exam that's a good thing, but it's important to sustain the motivation, and for that you need to be extremely clear about your career goals, since this is a long journey it takes a minimum of two years in the sense you'll be preparing for one whole year, and the entire examination of prelims, mains and interview happen over a period of one year, so you need to have single minded focus, dedication and perseverance to qualify this exam, at this point I will suggest focus only on your studies, and once you enter college try to dedicate yourself in knowing this exam, such as go through syllabus to learn it by heart, this will enable you to understand what to read, what to skip, develop the habit of newspaper reading this is crucial from the point of view of prelims/mains/interview, and you shouldn't stop this habit ever, next start off with NCERT and then move towards other standard books, further go through previous year papers, apply mock tests on regular basis to analyze yourself in terms of preparation level, and practice answer writing in advance, these are some of the general overview I've mentioned in regards to preparation of the exam, but as I said your priority at this time should be your studies, focus on it whole-heartedly, and you can appear for IFS even after completion of graduation, see there are many aspirant coming from diverse fields in some cases they also have relevant years of experiences in their domain, in case your goals regarding UPSC isn't clear you can explore that sphere of work as well.

Maharaja sayajirao University conducted entrance exam for BBA. so if will needed to classes for entrance exam or it can be done self study also for entrance exam
Hello student,
To prepare for BBA entrance exam first you need to know the syllabus for the same. There are four sections namely,
- English proficiency
- Quantitative aptitude
- Logical reasoning
- General awareness
In the school level, we are generally not taught the kind of questions they ask. So, in order to get a good college the candidate needs to give the preparation some extra time and attention. You can institutions for the preparation of the same as they also guide you on how to attempt the paper and complete it within the time or you can refer some YouTube channels for the preparation of the same. Solving previous years paper is very beneficial.
All the best!
Can an Aspirant crack NIFT by doing self study??????? (without any Intitutes or coaching)!
Hello Ayesha,
First of all,let me tell you that everything can be achieved by on own practice and hardwork. But, it also requires proper guidance and coaching under professionals.
So,if you are planning to crack the examination with self study then you may go for it,but it would be more effective and beneficial if you get in touch with a coach.
The experienced individuals would introduce more new terms and provide you with the latest, which you might not be able to achieve by your own. You also get a better understanding about the COMPETITION, more properly going around in the particular field or stream.
I hope you understood my point.
All the best.
