hello aspirant
as we know, the world is on the verge of undergoing massive climate change. The environment is in danger and immediate actions need to be taken that would help the world deal with this climate change. Therefore, human societies need to introspect and move towards sustainable development. it is basically defined as the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainability focuses on the achievement of actions that would help both the environment and the people. It involves more than growth, it requires a change in the content of growth, to make it less material- and energy-intensive and more equitable in its impact. hence we can conclude that sustainable development is a goal toward which all human societies need to be moving to live a better life.
primary goals of sustainable development :-
- To minimize the depletion of natural resources when creating new developments.
- To create development that can be maintained and sustained without causing further harm to the environment.
- To provide methods for retrofitting existing developments to make them into environmentally friendly facilities and projects.
hope this helps

A society compromises its ability to meet the essential needs of its people in the future by over exploiting natural resources. Technological developments may solve some immediate problems but it leads to even greater ones. for example, there is a massive climate change happening around the world. therefore, the environment is in danger and immediate actions need to be taken by humans. Sustainable development provides a solution for this growing concern. it is basically defined as the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. what are the courses that are available (sustainable development/ green building related topics) after completion of b-tech in Civil engg?
You have many options once you complete civil engineering in India(I don't know much about the opportunities abroad) which can place you in a better position.
1. GATE : You can give it a try. (If you are so desperate to do M.Tech in some of the reputed institutions in India)
M.Tech in Transportation Engineering
M.Tech in Structural Engineering
M.Tech in Water Resource Engineering
M.Tech in Geo-Technical engineering
M.Tech in Environmental Engineering etc
2. IES : Indian Engineering Services. Believe me. You are now eligible to apply.
3. PSU : If you are technically strong, you can apply for PSU's. Nowadays they are mainly dependent on GATE score. So, prepare hard for GATE. Give your best shot.
Some Government departments like Department of Atomic energy etc conduct their own exams for recruitment. Follow their advertisements.
4. State Government Jobs : Comparatively easy to crack.
You are even eligible for Bank Jobs in India. (Bank PO's)
5. Jobs @ Construction giants like L & T, Tata Projects, SPCL, HCC etc. : Attend their interviews. Go to their respective websites, search for CAREERS option, speak to HR persons or mail them your resume. If luck favours you, you might get a call for attending their interviews.
