Since you have not mentioned the name of any exam, I am assuming that you are referring to either KCET or COMEDK. Here I am providing the cut off for General merit category (at the end of round 2).

SJCE, Mysore cut-offs for CSE:

• KCET- 1298
• COMEDK- 2551

NIE, Mysore cut-offs for CSE:

• KCET- 2586
• COMEDK- 4309

So with your rank, it is difficult to get CSE in either of the two colleges. But no need to worry because there are several other colleges in which you will be able to secure a seat in CSE.

BIT is the best option for CSE/ISE among these. After BIT, NIE Mysore and BMSIT. BIT offers better infrastructure, better faculty and facilities and best placement opportunities. National institute of engineering mysore is a private engineering  college situated in karanataka. It is one of the best institute. Total fee  is 1.5Lacks. Placement is excellent . Almost 95% placement in cse. Many companies like Microsoft GTSC,  broadcom, Samsung , cisco had visited college. Coming to Faculties there are experienced professors in department but usually self study is more. Although the campes is small facilities are good with good cs labs,hostel ,mess . College life is good, they have an indoor stadium, various state level competitions are conducted .

The marks scored by you is decent one and also the both colleges which you have mentioned are some of the best colleges and also Government institution so this all makes the cutoffs quite high but definitely you can check your marks with the cutoffs of colleges and easily compare your chance of securing admission and also you can keep more options of colleges so that at the end you land up in any of the best college.

Hope you are doing well ! Yes definitely it's a great option ,in my opinion and it is worth ,you should definitely try for that . NIE has very good campus placement . Around 90% of CSE & ISE Students got placed. The highest package offered was 29.5 Lacs per Annum by Cisco. Almost every student got internship in good companies..

As per your query ,

yes ,In  BTECH you can change your branch after 1st year  because in the 1st year the syllabus of all the branches are same.

So we can change our branch after 1st year .

Change of branch shall  be strictly in order of merits of Applicants .

For this the purpose  of CGPA   obtained after the second  semester  shall be considered .

You should have maintain a  good CGPA for shifting form one branch to another if you want to take computer science ,IT branch then you need to maintain 9 CGPA  Because the merit list  listed accordance to  the CGPA  of the first year .
