how to start upsc preparationin 1st yearbams for beginners?
Dear student,
Start your preparation with completing the ncert basics of 6 to 12.
Building the basics is the most important thing in upsc preparation.
After building the basics and making your own notes you can refer other books like spectrum for modern history, lakshmikanth for polity, etc
After completing 75% of the syllabus do previous year question papers which will help you to find your weak side and you can get an idea about the type of questions asked.
You should also be updated with the current affairs by using newspapers and monthly magazines.
Do revision and make your own notes and build a map in your mind about all the things you study.
Practice every question paper possible and gain a technique for calculated guessing.
All the best for your preparation
Hope it helped

Dear Himanshu ,
Look, as you are in 1st year of your BA and also an UPSC aspirant , so I would suggest you that as of now , you should complete your graduation first .
UPSC Civil services exam is one of the most toughest competitive exams in India as well as in world also .and the syllabus for this exam is vast , you may face problem to prepare for this exam with your studies .
It will be better if you start from your final year . And now , according to job .. if you have financial problems in your family then placing in a job will be a better option , whereas if you have financial stability then just focus for UPSC exam from your final year .

I am planning to opt for ba defense and strategic studies. Is it easier to join in IAF as administration or logistics officer?or can i join indian army, or can i crack upsc cse for indian foreign service?(P.S: I am a woman and a PCB student. A lot of them say only engineering graduates could crack)
Hello,
The eligibility criteria for UPSC for the post of Indian Foreign Service is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, those in the final year of graduation can also apply provisionally, there is no specific aggregate required in this case,
coming to AFCAT, the eligibility criteria for the department of administration and logistics is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university securing 60% aggregate, as long as you fulfill the eligibility criteria you can appear for any government exam, now coming to qualifying the same your stream don't really matter, you have to make your strategies smartly such as get acquainted with the syllabus that will enable you to know what to read and what to skip, pattern of the exams, study materials(keep it limited), go through previous year papers to analyze the level of preparation, apply mock tests on regular basis.

Im a final year B.Sc student, and after graduation I want to go in teaching line. Im quite confused what should I do either Ill pursue B .Ed degree or M. SC degree. I also wanted to apply for civil service exam, what should I choose, Can I do B .Ed ,M. Sc and UPSC studies together on
Hello,
All the three options are best on their part. Each has some merit and demerit. If you are really interested in teaching profession, then you must pursue B. Ed. and clear exams like CTET. But it will lead you as a teacher in schools. It is good option if you want to make money a little early.
If you want to pursue your studies and be a researcher, scientist, professor, etc. then you must choose MSc.
UPSC is a risk at one hand, but a golden opportunity on the other. UPSC may take time but it will lead you to a position that is a dream for many. A civil servant has immense power and reputation. But, according to some sources, it is the most difficult exam in India, so if you are ready to give your 100% for few years, then you must opt for civil services. You can also give state exams.
Handling two things simultaneously is difficult. So, give your best efforts in one field.
Hope t helps. GOOD LUCK
