yes, you can take admission in vellore institute of technology even after not clearing your gate exam, there is vitmee exam conducts by the vit vellore to admission in different master of technology courses.
however during allotment of seats gate rank holder will be given preference.

what is the average cutoff for mca in vitmee ?
VITMEE- 2017 cutoff was around 900-1000.
VITMEE- 2018 cutoff was around 1100-1200.
So average cutoff lies between 1000-1100.

VIT hasn't released application form for PG COURSES yet.It is expected to be released in month of March.And also you can apply for Mtech through valid score card of GATE.If you wish to appear in Entrance examination then you need to register at VITMEE 2020.

VITMEE is just another entrance exam for the admission for PG courses in VIT.
If you are good with your fundamental basics you can easily crack it. Most of the questions would be from almost every subject in your UG course such as C,JAVA,NETWORKING etc.And some questions would be from integration and differentiation and other normal aptitude questions.
Once you are through with your exam and got nice ranking count yourself in as an VITIAN as for the interview(much as counseling) they'll just check your documents and ask you for campus selection.

The only thing possible right now is to apply for a program migration within VIT Chennai, in case you want to switch to a different stream!
Fortunately, VIT chennai and VIT Vellore students have their placements together at the Vellore Campus,so you can breathe a sigh of relief,in case you felt placements would be an issue(according to the previous year placement percentage record VIT Chennai has more placement percentage than VIT Vellore)...
