You should better go with CSE in Manipal institute of technology than EEE in Vellore institute of technology. Considering both the branches and the universities which you have opted these days even the EEE students can grab the software jobs very easily but considering the universities Manipal institute of technology offers good placements and better academics in computer science engineering compared to the Vellore institute of technology Chennai

Vellore institute of technology has announced that the classes for freshers batch 2021 will commence from 2nd August in online mode. The situation of the ongoing pandemic has not improved in the state to such level that the colleges could be opened offline.

Though both the colleges SRM and VIT are considered similar in correspondence to the percentage of students placed , the highest package at SRM 2021 was 35 LPA whereas the same at VIT 2021 was 44 LPA by Microsoft to 8 students. And if you compare the tution fee of both the colleges from there official websites. Tution fees of VIT per year is INR 1,95,000 and that of SRM is INR 3,50,000 (without any scholarships).

In your situation it would be clever to go for CSE with specialization in AI or ML according to your choice in VIT Chennai or if you can get the main campus vellore, that's a plus point. Choosing CSE at VIT is better because of the fee and there is pretty less crowd in comparison to SRM. So, that's in your favour as you will get less competition to tackle with. I got admission in VIT chennai for btech EEE. Classes will commence on 2nd August. Probably when will the offline classes begin? Im eagerly waiting for that.

You should 1st decide what you want to study.
You can't compare between to college with two different branch.select the branch in which you have more interest
Both the college are good and frankly it won't matter in which you study as all the companies which come for campus placement are almost same for both the college.
But since you are confused, I would suggest that go for VIT as the faculty is quite good an experienced and placements are quite good too.
For btech electrical engineering should I join VIT chennai in category 2 or should I join Manipal main campus? Im concerned about the fees too.
As both colleges are best of their features and specialisations but getting in the main campus is better than going for bit Chennai. So try to get in Manipal as it is a core course main campus impact will be more during placements or any other requirements. As you have a choice to pick Manipal and lead on.
