I have been working with my father in his retail medical store. Can i include this as my work experience in CAT ??
Hello aspirant,
It is recognised as job experience for admission if you can provide correct pay stubs for the time you worked. Even if you don't have any pay stubs, a letter on the business' letterhead outlining your duties and work there ought to suffice as evidence of prior employment.
Thank you
Hope this information helps you
I would like to ask my chances of getting call from iim and what percentile would be decent to crack? 12th~ 88 percent (com with maths) 10th ~74 percent graduation approx ~78percent undergraduate degree-ba programme( economics) from du in category- general no work experience cfa level1 cleared
Hello Aspirant,
See it is quite difficult to predict your chances from any particular IIM because you don't have your CAT percentile but yes as per the analysis of current data with the academic record which you have mentioned in the question you should have at least 99+ percentile in CAT for top IIMs such as IIM A/B/C/L and for average IIMs 96+ percentile would also work.
Let me make you more clear with the admission criteria of IIMs by taking an example of top most IIM i.e. IIM Ahmedabad :-

I am graduated in B.A from sol du I have little work experience in telesales and I have financial problems in my family, I was wasted 4 years for searched a normal job, also I have to study but I cant b,coz my family has more distraction how can I change my life? how to choose my career?pls guide me
First of all I think it's very important that you take care of your emotional and mental well-being, do yoga and meditation on a daily basis, this will help you calm down and until you have that calmness you won't have any clarity on how to deal with issues in life, due to this pandemic work from home opportunities are there so try to sign up for job portals like LinkedIn, Indeed, Naukri.com etc and try searching for jobs as per your interest, you can also learn some in demand courses which can help you improving your career as well as finances such as graphing designing, digital marketing, web development etc, and you can also work as a freelancer once you learn this course, so don't lose hope, be consistent in your efforts and you will surely succeed, just remember one thing that you cannot take care of your family until you take care of your wellbeing first, a mindset to deal with the challenges and overcoming that is important to inculcate,
so make that a priority first, everything else will just follow as you put efforts.
All the very best!
Is work experience strictly necessary for an MBA (finance) admission into IIMs for science background and non engineering students? If so what type of experience may they ask?
hi,
the admission in iims after clearing cat exam , for any graduate students work experience is not mandatory, however if you have certain years of industrial or any experience after your graduation it will be an added advantage, now coming to fresh students work experience is not mandatory, some of the programs like executive mba , where work experience is needed.
i am having 4.5 years of work experience in mechanical and engineering sector so is it worth persuing PGPM from great lakes chennai?
Great lakes institute of management, Chennai has great placement record for pgpm courses. Every year, almost 98% students placed in different reputed companies like Dell, HCL, ITC, EY, Cognizant, Genpact, KPMG, Snapdeal, TCs etc with median packages around is 8 to 9 lakhs. A multinational Consulting Firm made the highest offer with a CTC of 28.6 lakhs per annum. The college infrastructure is really good. Overall, it is an excellent B school if you exclude the IIMs.
mam if i have worked in a property dealing firm for 1year so i get work experience of 1 year. i got 4.8 cgpa in 10 std and 69% in 12 std and 90% in graduation from IGNOU university and i belong to general category.. so can i get a call from iims if i secure 95+ in CAT.
Your CAT weightage is considered only upto 40-60% based on the IIM that you are applying for. Each IIM has its own selection criteria. Even the baby IIMs require CAT percentile 40-60% and the rest is considered from your 10th and 12th, Graduation marks and diversity factor. Most IIMs will need atleast 18 months of work experience. Considering all these factors, a call from any IIM will be difficult even with 95 percentile. Because only 60% of your CAT score will be considered for shortlisting your profile for next rounds. In that case, you will losr out on your 10th marks and work experience.
