What is the full form of MPSC?

The full form of MPSC is “Maharashtra Public Service Commission”. It is an organization under the Maharashtra government which sets the eligibility criteria for various exams conducted by it. MPSC was under the Article 314 of the constitution of India. MPSC is a governing body which recruits young and interested individuals who are willing to change the society in a good way. MPSC conducts exams for Group A and Group B posts of civil servants. It provides smooth and efficient operation to the Government of Maharashtra by providing eligible and qualified candidates for various government positions It also provides advice to various matters related to the services like advice on transfers, promotions, disciplinary measures, etc. The official website of MPSC is “https://mpsc.gov.in”. MPSC eligibility

The eligibility criteria of MPSC exam is as follows:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.

  • Candidate must have minimum 19 years of age and less than 45 years

  • Candidate must complete the graduation from the recognized university

  • Candidate need to have domiciled of Maharashtra

  • Candidate must be fluent in Marathi speaking and writing

MPSC exam pattern

The preliminary exam of MPSC is conducted in three stages such as preliminary exam, mains exam and personal interview. The preliminary exam consists of two papers, first paper and second paper, in which first paper is conducted for 200 marks with a total of 150 questions and second paper is also conducted for 200 marks with a total of 80 questions. The marks allotted and duration of the test is different for different papers. The paper is available in two languages such as English and Marathi. The mains exam of MPSC consists of six papers and this is conducted for 800 marks. And the final interview is conducted for 100 marks, this is the last stage of the exam.

Age limit for MPSC

Based on the rules of the governing body that conduct the examination, there are different relaxations in age based on the category. The age limit for different categories are discussed below.

  • Backward classes age limit for MPSC: Minimum - 19; Maximum - 43

  • Ex-serviceman age limit for MPSC: Minimum - 19 ; Maximum -43, Maximum - 48(for Backward classes)

  • Qualified players age limit for MPSC: Minimum - 19; Maximum - 43 (for both General category and Backward classes)

  • Persons with disability age limit for MPSC: Minimum - 19; Maximum - 45 (for both General category and Backward classes)

MPSC Application Fee

The application fee of the MPSC exam is different for different categories. It is as follows:

  • General Category - 394 rupees

  • Other Backward Classes - 297 rupees

  • Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes - 297 rupees

  • For PWD category - 297 rupees
