History

India proposed developing a bank of this kind between nations in 2012 at the 4th BRICS summit in Delhi. That was the beginning, with K.V. Kamath being appointed the first president of the newly established NDB bank in 2015. Though the bank was established in 2015, most of the NDB policies and methodologies were approved by the board meetings held in January 2016 The first green financial bond was successfully signed on 19th July 2016.
