On July 5th, 2021, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union Minister for Education, officially introduced the NIPUN Bharat Program.
The National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy Bharat Programme is the full name of the project. Under the supervision of the centrally funded Samagra Shiksha Scheme, it has been introduced.
By the conclusion of grade three, this programme guarantees that every kid in India has mastered fundamental literacy and numeracy skills.NIPUN Bharat aims to remodel the dull educational system into one that is integrated, fun, inclusive, and engaging. It gives teachers or educators instructions on how to create a study schedule that improves students' reading and fundamental language skills.
As part of Samagra Shiksha Scheme for school education (Smagra Siksha), it will also work to improve training or learning modules, increase teacher capacity, maintain students in school until they have completed their fundamental education, and track each child's progress.
By 2026–2027, the NIPUN mission must be completed in order to meet the goals.
The New Educational Policy National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 includes the initiative NIPUN Bharat.
The NIPUN Bharat Program aims to meet the educational needs of kids between the ages of 3 and 9.
In order to help our children reach their full potential and take the nation to new heights, NIPUN Bharat is intended to support and inspire kids as well as their schools, teachers, parents, and communities.
By 2026–2027, the programme aims to ensure that every kid in the nation has achieved fundamental literacy and numeracy skills by the end of third grade.
The Lakshya Soochi, or Targets for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, are the Mission's stated objectives.
From Balvatika through Grade 3, Lakshyas have been developed.
The Lakshyas are based on learning objectives created by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), as well as on international research and Observer Research Foundation (ORF) studies.
The program's beneficiaries are listed below.
The 3 to the 9-year-old age group is the focus of this programme.
Additionally, it helps students from preschool through third grade.
Children in grades 4 and 5 who are studying without a foundational skill will be given support networks, teacher coaching, and additional study materials to help them improve their educational performance.
Through private and government-aided schools, NIPUN hopes to achieve its goals by 2026–2027. This will contribute to the universal development of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) capabilities.
The Department of School Education and Literacy will put it into action. A five-tier implementation mechanism will be established at the national, state, district, block, and school levels in all states and Union Territory (UTs) under the supervision of the centrally supported Samagra Shiksha scheme. The development of teachers' skills will receive particular attention because they will be the group most responsible for NIPUN Bharat's success. Keeping it in mind, NCERT is creating a unique syllabus for FLN, or fundamental literacy and numeracy, as part of the NISHTHA Scheme, or National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement. In 2021, almost 25 lakh teachers who instruct students in pre-primary through primary grades will receive FLN training.
These are the advantages provided to beneficiaries of the NIPUN plan.
The targets and objectives of this programme are comparable to those of Lakshya Soochi and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy.
By the end of the third class, it hopes to have achieved the desired learning outcome. Lakshyas has been moved from Balvatika to class three as part of this programme to raise awareness of this goal among parents, workers, the community, etc.
On the basis of international research and ORF studies, Lakshyas are established. The curriculum is also planned by NCERT.
In all States and UTs, a five-tier implementation mechanism is used, with the levels of the application being national, state, district, block, and school.
A unique package is provided for FLN under NISHTHA via the NIPUN initiative. The pre-primary to primary grade teachers will receive training as part of this project.
The NIPUN Bharat Mission seeks to increase children's productivity and capacity for learning. For instance, after passing class three, a child should be able to correctly read at least 60 words per minute of a longer text.
NIPUN Bharat wants to make the foundational level of learning broad, integrated, inclusive, enjoyable, and engaging.
The program's main goals are to increase student access and engagement in the foundational years of education, provide high-quality, varied student and teacher resources and learning materials, build teacher capacity, and monitor each child's progress toward meeting learning objectives.
To help in achieving children's full potential and raising the nation to new heights by supporting and inspiring kids, along with their communities, schools, teachers, parents, and communities, in any way that is practical.
The NIPUN Bharat Mission is expected to produce the following results.
Children's core skills being improved to lower dropout rates
More kids should pass the primary, upper primary, and secondary levels.
It imagines improved educational quality brought about by friendly and activity-based instruction.
To make the sessions enjoyable and engaging, use novel and toy-based techniques or experimental teaching methods.
Creating a training programme that focuses on the development of cognitive, emotional, and social abilities, as well as literacy, numeracy, and other life skills.
Make sure each child is developing holistically, and reports will track this.
Encourage them to undertake serious analysis in preparation for future demands, such as work and major life decisions.
Make creative tests, such as games, polls, and quizzes.
All government, government-aided, and private schools must fulfill the NIPUN Bharat mission's aims and objectives in order for FLN skills to be mastered universally by 2026–2027.
NISHTHA is a programme for "Improving Quality of School Education through Integrated Teacher Training" that aims to create capability. It aims to develop elementary school principals' and all teachers' competencies. The largest teacher training programme of its sort in the world is NISHTHA.
Considering the 5+3+3+4 structure
Here is a full explanation of each class and age group. According to the new school education system defined in NEP 2020, children will spend five years in the Foundational stage, three years in the beginning stage, three years in the Middle stage, and four years in the Secondary stage.
Innovating project National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman Workers (NIPUN) was launched in New Delhi by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The Department of School Education and Literacy set up the Nipun Bharat Mission, and Dharmendra Pradhan is in charge of its National Steering Committee.
