NMTC stands for National Mathematics Talent Contest. This is a popular national-level competition in the field of mathematics conducted by the Association of Mathematics Teachers of India (AMTI). The main aim of NMTC is to encourage students who have problem-solving skills and creative thinking abilities and can solve non-routine general mathematics problems of their level. Registration for NMTC can be done directly through their official website. All this application and registration process will be carried out online via (amtionline.com) website. The payment for the application fee can be processed via online transfer method.The registration fee per candidate is Rs 150.
The National Mathematics Talent contest is conducted in two stages, i.e. Preliminary Test (Stage 1) and Final Test (Stage 2).
Stage 1 (Preliminary Test): The duration of the preliminary test is 2 hours. This test is conducted at the participating schools only. The Principal or the authorised person will be the centre in charge. The AMTI will send the question paper on the day of the test, and the respective institution will also evaluate it as per the answer key sent by the AMTI. For primary, sub-junior, junior and inter levels, the preliminary test will be an objective type test. The respective institution or school will select the top 10% of students based on their performance.
Stage 2 (Final Test): The students who cleared stage 1 are eligible for the Final test. The test will be for 3 hours and will be conducted at the centres authorised by AIMT. This stage 2 test will be a subjective type of test.
NMTC is conducted at 5 levels based on the student’s academic level.
Level I ( Primary) for grade V and VI students.
Level II (sub-junior) for grade VII and VIII students.
Level III ( Junior) for grade IX and X students.
Level IV ( Inter) for grades XI and XII students.
Level V ( Senior) for students studying degree courses in any stream.
The NMTC offers cash rewards and Merit certificates to the students selected at the final level. Enriched contact courses are also likely to be organised for good toppers.
