What is Full Form of PCI ?

PCI is the abbreviation of the Pharmacy Council of India. It is a statutory organization of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is governed by the Pharmacy Act of 1948. The Council was established for the first time on March 4, 1948, with the preamble: “An Act to control the profession of pharmacy and deliver better provision for the regulation of the profession and practise of pharmacy and to form Pharmacy Councils." Objectives of PCI

2. To guarantee that educational standards are implemented consistently across the country.

3. To authorize the courses of study and examination for pharmacists and to approve the academic training institutes that offer pharmacy courses.

4. To revoke permission if the authorised course of study or an approved test no longer follows the PCI's educational standards.

5. To accept qualifications outside the regions covered by the Pharmacy Act, i.e. the approval of foreign qualifications.

6. To keep the Central Register of Pharmacists up to date using data from the State Pharmacy Councils.

Powers And Duties Of Officers Of PCI

Registrar-cum-Secretary

The administrative head of the PCI secretariat is the Registrar-cum-Secretary. They serve as the Council's Treasurer. They are responsible for carrying out the activities outlined in the Pharmacy Act of 1948, such as organizing different meetings of the Central Council, Executive Committee, and other committees, as well as implementing the decisions made at such sessions.

Assistant Secretary and Deputy Secretary

They are in charge of inspecting pharmacy institutions, processing inspection reports, and organizing meetings of the PCI's Central Council, Executive Committee, and other committees, as well as implementing the decisions made at such sessions.
