Awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2013, Dr. B.N Suresh is a renowned Aerospace Engineer and a pioneer in Indian space technology who worked on launch vehicle design, aerospace navigation, control and actuation systems, vehicle electronics, modelling and simulation. During his career at the ISRO spanning four decades, he shaped the space program and guided it from pivotal positions. He is the Founder-Director of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Trivandrum, established by the ISRO. Known for his contribution to the Space Capsule Recovery Experiments (SRE), Dr. Suresh was formerly Director at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. His publications include the well-received "Integrated Design For Space Transportation System" (2016).
Space science is a fascinating field, involving the study of physics, chemistry, mathematics, geology, and more. Space scientists often look at answering some of the bigger questions about the universe -- “Is there life on other planets?”, “What are the other planets made of?”; “How did life begin on Earth?”. They could work under varying profiles, such as that of an astronomer, geologist, planetary scientist, material scientist, or computer scientist. A large number of students wish to join the space sciences in general but what they often want is precise information on what exactly the field entails, the course options they can choose from, the institutes they might explore for higher education, and career prospects. This webinar aims to answer these questions and more.
