Technology has taken almost every industry by storm, and it has made its mark on photography too. Drone and aerial photography have emerged as revolutionary trends, offering captivating perspectives and unprecedented visual experiences.
Drones are gaining rapid popularity worldwide, serving various purposes ranging from leisure activities to professional applications. With the rise in interest and demand for mastering this innovative art form, online courses have become a sought-after avenue for enthusiasts and professionals alike.
In this article, we will explore the cost of online drone and aerial photography courses. But before we get on there, let’s quickly go through the rules and regulations related to flying and operating drones in India.
In India, the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) looks after everything related to operating civil drones in India. In India, drones are categorised into three types namely, aeroplane, rotorcraft, and hybrid unmanned aircraft system. Following are some of the regulations one must know before buying and flying drones in India.
Registration and Licensing: DGCA mandates the registration of all drones, accompanied by the necessity of obtaining an operator's licence. The registration process is facilitated through the DGCA's ‘Digital Sky platform’, offering a streamlined online portal for both drone registrations and operation approvals.
Operator Prerequisites: To be eligible for drone operation, individuals need to be at least 18 years old, complete a training program from a DGCA-approved institution, and successfully pass a written examination. Once granted, the drone operation licence remains valid for a period of 10 years.
Usage Limitations: Stringent regulations dictate the permissible scenarios for drone flights. For example - ensuring safety and compliance, proximity to airports and densely populated areas is off-limits for drone operations.
The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has introduced an interactive airspace map on the Digital Sky Platform, which classifies regions into Green, Yellow, and Red zones.
Zonal Regulations:
> In Green zones, drones can be operated without prior permission.
> Yellow zones represent controlled airspace where special permission is required for entry.
> Red zones are designated as strict no-fly areas, encompassing sensitive locations like military bases and nuclear power plants due to potential safety and security concerns.
Speed and Elevation Limits: Nano and micro drones are limited to a maximum altitude of 50 feet above ground level and a speed not exceeding 25 m/s.
Permission Protocols: Before each drone operation in India, obtaining permission is mandatory. Operators can get permission through a mobile app integrated with the Digital Sky Platform.
Compliance and Consequences: Adhering to these regulations is crucial for drone operators. Failure to comply may lead to penalties, including fines up to Rs 1,00,000.
So, these were few important drone-related rules and regulations in India which every drone flyer must adhere to. Now, let’s explore the cost part.
