Pravalika Hegde | Digital Officer

I have been to Hyderabad many times but it was the first time for me to shift here to pursue my career. It is a taboo in my hometown for women to work in the cities but I am glad that I am able to break such illogical taboos. I moved to the city in July 2021 to work as a Digital Officer in a bank. My work majorly involves communicating with the clients. The best part that happened after shifting to Hyderabad is that I have learned to live independently. After living in hostels, I am currently living as a PG where rent is Rs 6,500 per month. It has all the facilities. My office is seven kilometers away from my hostel, but since it provides cab services, travel is easier. After office, I usually go to the gym which costs me Rs 3,000 per month. The cost of living and food expenses here are reasonable when we compare it with that of other metro cities.

Ajith Rajan | Subject Matter Expert

I work as a subject matter expert of the English language for an International school in Hyderabad. Initially, my employment provided for my accommodation and food, which helped save quite a bit. Now I live in a PG accommodation where rent is Rs 8,500 per month inclusive of food and other basic facilities. I have stayed here before, and so it became quite easy for me to adjust with the food, traffic and culture of the city. Irrespective of which part of the country one belongs to, anybody can stay in Hyderabad without any issues. The city is a hub for IT companies and industries. There are plenty of opportunities for the jobseekers.

Kumar Vivek | Software Engineer

After my BCA, I started working with a top software company in Hyderabad. I hail from North India but as I spent my student years in Bengaluru, I am quite attune with the food, culture and way of life. Currently, I share a PG accommodation with two other flatmates. We have rented a 3BHK flat for which we pay Rs 23,000 per month excluding electricity and maintenance charges. Since all three of us are office goers, we have hired help to make meals and other housekeeping tasks. That expense is Rs. 6,000. My weekend leisure expenses are between Rs 2000-2500. Overall monthly expenditure comes to roughly around Rs 20,000. I enjoy living in this city. It is a combination of expensive hangouts at Hi-Tech city, Banjara Hills, Manikonda, Madhapur, Abids etc as well as reasonably priced places at Uppal, Miyapet, Begumpet, Somajiguda, Ameerpet. Hyderabad is a beautiful city with numerous tourist attractions. You will find heavy traffic on the roads but that is true for any cosmopolitan city.

Spoorthi Rajiv | Content Writer

I moved to Hyderabad in September 2021. Being a thoroughbred Delhite it was initially difficult for me to leave everything and everyone I know behind. But to build a career and learn to live independently, I decided to work with a prestigious start-up in Hyderabad. I now live in an apartment in Madhapur and pay Rs 8,500 rent per month. I cook my own meals but also love to eat out - especially the world famous Hyderabadi Biryani. The outings on weekends usually cost around Rs 4,000 per month. Since it’s an IT hub and a metropolis, the city sees a lot of traffic. I mostly use the metro for travel. The autowala bhaiyas are very cool but sometimes when I hear about the stories of crimes against women, I do feel nervous to travel alone. I have not completely explored the city but the places I visited were very interesting and beautiful.

Najeeb Siddiqui | Web Designer

I am 22-years-old, working as a web designer in Hyderabad. I am a fresher and my CTC is quite low so I have to manage my expenses very carefully. I live with three other flatmates. 2BHK flat is Rs 14,000 which gets divided equally among all four of us. Apart from this, we also pay electricity, water and maintenance charges which are roughly about Rs 1,500 per month. This too gets divided between us. We cook on our own, so my monthly expense on food doesn’t exceed Rs 1,200. On weekends, I watch movies and web series on my laptop. My monthly expenses are somewhere around Rs 8,500 which is very economical.

Although Hyderabad has a lot of things to offer right from Ramoji Film City to Charminar to the world famous Hyderabadi Biryani, I refrain from spending unnecessarily. My focus is to save as much money as I can. People here are very helpful and you won’t face any language barrier. All in all, Hyderabad is a very good city to live and work in.
