Isotopes are atoms with the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons. It has the same atomic number but a different mass number. Since the number of electrons in an element's isotopes are the same, they differ physically yet share similar chemical characteristics. Examples of isotopes: Hydrogen-1 and Hydrogen-2 (Deuterium), Hydrogen-3(Tritium), Carbon-12 and Carbon-14, Uranium-235 and Uranium-238, Oxygen-16 and Oxygen-18.
