Hey,

It involves mistaking a particular term, making a linguistic or cultural assumption, or misinterpreting sarcasm. There are other language pitfalls as well that could lead to confusion and misunderstanding in cross-cultural communication.

Example: Idiomatic language and dialect can create cognitive obstacles that prevent effective communication. This may occur if there isn't enough mutually understood terminology to maintain a discourse or if neither party is a native speaker of the other language. This also goes by the titles of linguistic gaps and barriers.
Hope this will help you!

Language, semantic, or linguistic barriers: Communication issues can result from barriers brought on by various languages or linguistic disparities. Semantic barriers are issues brought on by the various ways that words can be understood. A semantic barrier might be something like misreading a certain term, making assumptions based on language or culture, or misinterpreting sarcasm. Additionally, there are other language traps that might cause bafflement and miscommunication in cross-cultural dialogue.
