First of all, a big congratulations to you for securing such an fantastic percentile. It should have been your efforts of dedication and hard work which you have put forth for the past few months. Your LR/DI and VA percentile are really great but due to QA, your overall percentile has got a hit. No worries, every IIM have a limited percentage(~3%) seats reserved for the PWD category.
Now coming to your question, it will be somewhat dicey whether you will receive a call from IIM A,B,C since they have high sectional cutoffs as well as overall percentile cutoff. But you stand a very good chance of getting a call from the baby IIMs that are Udaipur, Nagpur, Shillong, Vizag, Jammu, Amritsar as well as IIM Indore and Lucknow(though these two are not considered as babies anymore).
So now you have two options in your hand.
- Practice and prepare well for your Group Discussion, Personal Interview, Case Discussions and Written ability test rounds as you never know which IIM would come up with what kind of selection process. Prepare well in advance. Go through newspapers daily and try to grasp what is happening in the world as well as in India. Learn a bit about various Union Cabinet Ministers as well as the recent amendments that happened in the Indian Constitution. Form a positive opinion about every issue happening in India as panellists may ask you, your opinion about something. So its better to be thorough about the hot topics. For Case Discussions, try to memorise some frameworks like “SWOT & PESTEL” to solve a small caselet given to you as it would fetch you a brownie point. Learn everything about the college for which you are going for an interview, as it would reflect how well you are prepared of about the college.
- You can always give other exams like SNAP, TISS-NET, CMAT and try to go for other Tier-1 B-Schools like SIBM-Pune, SCMHRD, SIMSREE, JBIMS, etc,. You can also apply to other B-Schools like KJSOMAIYA, XIMB, GIM, TAPMI, etc through your CAT score as these are reputed B-Schools in India and will fetch you good packages and roles at the end of your two years in MBA. They won’t look at your QA percentile but may question you at the interviews. So prepare an answer for that.
Ultimately, it all boils down to you and in which role and position you want to see yourself in. Choose wisely and stay prepared because opportunities will come in your way and you have to grab it. I hope I am able to solve your query. All the Best!!!
Hi...
First of all congrats for getting a good percentile in CAT.
All the IIMs have the 3 percentage pf seats reserved for the PWD.
It is not sure that you will get calls from the top IIMs like IIM Ahmedabab IIM Bangalore and the IIM Calcutta as your score in graduation is less.
You may get calls from the other IIMs fot the other baby IIMs. But you have to out perform in the Group Discussion and the Personal Interview so that you can get the good total score than the students who already have a good percentage in their graduation.likeYour coversion chances in the IIMs or any other colleges depends on the candidates who have the higher application rating than yours.
The cut offs may vary based on vari factors like the students who apply for the exam, based on the difficulty level of the question paperpaper and many more.
You can refer the link for the further details about the previous year and this year's expected cut off.
