Hey, can somebody please help me out with the RC section of CAT. I'm having difficulty understanding the format of questions?
Best strategy is to read RC in quick time and then read questions and then again read RC carefully.
The more you solve RC the betteryou will shine out, best books are by Arun Sharma and TIME Material notes.
You need to give short mock exams every alternative day if you're weak at RC to eliminate your mistakes permanently.
Here main thing is you need to understand the thought process of author. You need to figure out the tone in which the author is expressing his/her view that can be straightforward in positive or negative emotions or in sarcastic tone or dreamy time or futuristic tone or past reference tone.
Then you need to figure out the message that the author want to communicate. Mostly real message is not mentioned in the passage as generally it is not a complete passage. So you need to figure out the real message and expectations through the reference or view points given in passage.
If you are able to do this you will be able to solve maximum questions below the paragraph. For improving this technique you can try out on different write ups given in newspapers or books.
Sometimes questions are also based on words meanings. For solving them you need to have strong vocabulary. You can improve it by memorizing 5 words daily with their meaning and correct pronounciation and use them in your daily conversations so as to memorize them properly.
All the best for your preparations and exams!!
