Hii. If I got an MBA seat @EASWARI ENGG CLG &MSW seat @ MADRAS SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK. which one would be a better choice? Which I can choose
Hi Ranjith !
- Both the colleges you have mentioned are different institutes
that specialize in different fields . So you cannot really compare them .
- However you can compare between MBA in HRM and MSW.
- Let me list some features of both colleges :
MBA at Easwari Engineering College :
- The department of Management Studies was established in 2001.
- Specialisations – HRM, Marketing, Systems, Operations and Finance
- The student Intake is 120 students .
- Placement recruiters here include HDFC , Naukri , RBS among many .
MSW at Madras School of Social Work:
- Established in 1952.
- The focus is on practical knowledge and experience rather than theoretical information.
- The third and fourth semesters of MSW in Madras School of Social Work are focused more on internships.
- There are components of fieldwork - internship and summer placement.
- The institution itself helps the students with the internships.
- Graduates from Madras School of Social Work are professionals across the globe as Social Workers and Policy Makers with NGOs and the Government.
- Students with Human Resource specialization are placed in the Corporate sector –
Tata Consultancy Services, Deloitte, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Ernst and Young,
to name a few of our recruiters.
So , it more or less depends on what specialization you want to opt for .
MBA is a business focused degree that will teach you how to run a business from the
ground up including HR, finance, budget and management but it will not teach you
the human psychology and interpersonal relationships that you get from working
with psychotics, personality disorders, depressed or suicidal individuals. You
will not learn about family counseling and interaction.
If you want to achieve the above , you would need to pursue MSW.
An MBA can secure you a job more easily because of its generic nature , a MSW
can have fewer options , but it all comes down to what field you want to specialize in.
Hope this helps , all the best !
My friend if you have both the options in your hand first and the foremost thing before comparing both the colleges i would say is, You need to think and decide what YOU want to do as a person. Because landing into a wrong profession can cost you two important years of your life. Take some time. Tell your close ones, your friends, your parents, etc to evaluate you and ask them what they feel you would be happy with. If you are able to decide and take decision for yourself well and good. But, before compare yourself, make a self evaluation.
I hope i helped you.
