You can start your Gate preparation on your own level from your B. Tech while you are in college and it is very easy and beneficial. The first thing is that you need to know the subjects you have to study for GATE and then you can focus on them especially when they are thaught to you in class. Teachers in government engineering colleges are generally GATE qualified so if you talk to them then they will guide you for sure.
