Cheers !!
As you can see that in CAT exam you are evaluated on the basis of percentile not percentage. 99 Percentile means that you have overall scored more than 99% of students who have appeared for the exam. So, the percentile is totally a relative phenomenon which not only depends on your score but also on the scores of all the candidates who are appearing for exam along with you. So, what I mean to say is that there is no fixed marks cut-off for any percentile mark. It changes every year depending on different parameters like the difficulty of paper, number of students appearing for the exam and the performance of the students.
Still, on the basis of previous records, I can say that with total marks 180+ out of 360 you will have a good probability to score 99+ percentile. Again the no. of questions you need to attempt depends on your accuracy rate. On a good rate assuming your accuracy rate to be around 80-90%, you need to attempt 65-75 questions in order to get a 99+ percentile.
But again it's all just a prediction, its better you understand your position by giving a lot of online mock test and go for the paper with your best performance.
All the best!!
