Hello! Hope you are doing well. There are many people who have doubts regarding this. From 2019, students are given two chances to appear for the JEE mains exam. Of the two exams score, only one exam score which is best is considered. So, you can apply twice for JEE mains within a year. The JEE Main will be held twice in a year i.e. in January (from 6th - 20th Jan) and in April (from 6th - 20th April). Both these will be counted as only one attempt.
So. accordingly you will be able to take JEE Main 6 times in 3 years (depending on the year you are applying).

You can apply Thrice, once with your 12th boards, and two more times in next 2 consecutive years.
You can attempt twice a year,in January and April. Since you can give JEE 3 times so that makes it to 6 attempts all together.
