I am a keralite but born and brought up in mumbai ..can i apply for keam 2019 ? If yes please guide me with the document process required
Candidates would be divided into 3 categories:
- Keralite
- Non-Keralite(Category 1)
- Non-Keralite(Category 2)
Keralite
The candidate needs to be born in Kerala. He/She must possess domicile cerificate of Kerala. Wards of IAS officer, who are not born in Kerala, will be distinguished as ‘Deemed Keralites’. These applicants will be entitled to Communal/Special Reservation and PwD relaxation.
Non-Keralite(Category 1)
These candidates are not natives of Kerala but have written their qualifying exam in schools or colleges in Kerala. This category also includes:
- Wards of Government of India Employees and Defense Personnel, who are posted in Kerala.
- Wards of former and current employee of Government of Kerala whose serving period has been more than two years.
Non Keralite Category 2-
Candidates who do not belong to the above categories are put under this category. These candidates will be eligible only for Management Quota in Private Self financing Colleges (Government Seats) and Government Controlled Self Financing Colleges.
Educational qualifiactions for KEAM-Candidates should have scored an aggregate of 60% marks in the qualifying exam. In Chemistry, Physics, Maths/Computer Science/ Biology/Bio-Technology each, the candidate must have secured 50% marks or above. The qualifying exam should be either from Kerala HSC or any equivalent board.
A candidate who have scored 45% marks in Maths but have managed to secure 60% collectively in Maths, Physics and Chemistry are eligible to write KEAM. In this criteria, Chemistry can be substituted with Computer Science and Biology.
Candidates with Diploma of 3 years and have scored 50% marks in it will also fall under KEAM 2016 eligibility criteria.
Age limit for KEAM- Minimum age limit as per KEAM eligibility criteria is 17 years. There is no upper limit for Kerala CEE entrants.
Dear Abhirami, Any citizen of India can apply for KEAM. Students will be categorised as Keralite, Non Keralite Category I and Non Keralite Category II.
- Candidates of Keralite origin are considered as Keralites.
- Non Keralite Category I is for those candidates who are not from Kerala but have studied 10+2 in Kerala and their parents work in Central Govt. or Defense services posted in Kerala. Srudents who have studied 10+2 in Kerala because their parents have been working in Kerala for atleast 2 years for State Govt. also come under this category. Those students who have studied atleast 5 years out of 12 years of study or atleast studied from Class VIII to XII though they arent from Kerala also fall under this category.
- The rest of the candidates fall under Non Keralite Category II and are eligible for admission into Government and Management Quota of B.Tech programmes offered by Govt. Controlled self financing colleges and private self financing colleges.
So you will come under Non Keralite Category II. You will have to submit the certificate of completion of highest qualification as a proof of nativity.
