The minimum rank required to get into the NIT for a student of your category is less than 1500.

As you got the rank less than 1500, you have quite a good chance to get into the NIT. Mostly you can not get into the top NIT because of the competition to that colleges.

You can try for your state quota where you'll have the much better chance to get into, as they will have the state reservation quota.
