To get an admission in the NIT, minimum requirements or eligibility criteria from 2017-18 onwards is
For General Category:
Top 20 percentile or min 75%marks
For SC/ST category:
Top 20 percentile or min 65% marks
After fulfilling this eligibility criteria then your JEE score comes into the picture in your selection for the good NIT in the desired branch.

Hi, according to the rules it is mandatory to score 75% in 12th board or be in top 20 percentile of your board along with good marks in jee mains to get a seat in any NITs. It may effect and you can lose the seat alloted try for some other semi-government institutions SFTIs and IIITs. Many colleges have not set their criteria as mandatory to get 75% in 12th marks.
