Look there are many ways to join ISRO, in any discipline. Let me explain it to you the routes.
1. IIST TRIVANDRUM
Pursuing Undergraduate or Dual Degree courses in Avionics/Aerospace or Electronics is one of the best ways if you are seriously targeting ISRO in future. You just need to clear an Interview, provided you have 7.5 GPA after B.Tech and you are directly inducted into ISRO. More than 70% of the batches join research organizations like ISRO, BARC amd DRDO. For Joining IIST, you need to Clear JEE Advanced and subsequently apply for the IIST Counselling, conducted by the Institute.
2. B.Tech/Dual Degree from IIT/Top NITs
ISRO visits many of the Top IITs and NITs and primarily recruits quite a number of budding engineers from Electronics , Computer Science and Mechanical Domains. So there also lies a way.
3. Masters from IISc/IIT after B.Tech
Research Organizations like ISRO and DRDO prefer postgraduates for their highly advanced engineering and research applications. Each year ISRO declares tender for more than 500+ vacanies for Scientist designation , alone for Postgraduates in different disciplines from Instrumentation to Metallurgical/Material Science. So even if you havent cleared JEE, do note you have another chance at GATE, and subsequent M.Tech from IISc Bangalore or preferably a Top IIT. For your Information most of the Top Scientists and Directors are not IITians and NITians but most of them were excellent undergraduates in their respective state colleges and went on to do postgraduate and doctoral degrees from Top Institutes in India and Abroad. An Institute only gives you a platform, ultimately its your responsibility how you nurture your Career and Interests.
4. After Bachelors/B.Tech
In case you want to join ISRO directly after B.Tech, do check the Careers and Recruitment Portal from time to time. There are quite a number of vacanies for Undergraduates from different streams round the year. You need to answer an Examination proctured by ISRO and subsequent Interviews guarantee your selection. But remember a Masters candidate is always preferred by the Recruitment Division of ISRO, so you will always face tough competition. All the Best.

Hello Rakesh,
No , JEE Mains or advanced is not the only path to become a scientist at ISRO. The thing is ISRO directly recruits students from IITs and IISC, so if you study in either of these , it becomes easier to get into ISRO ,that's all . You may do engineering in any other good institute too , you would still be eligible for a job in ISRO. However , you will have to prepare a lot and knowledge wise become as efficient as an IITian. You should clear the entrance exam conducted by ISRO to recruit engineering graduates to enter ISRO. The exam is ICRB (centralized Recruitment Board) ,recruitment are done through GATE exam too. If you check their official website you will have better idea about the eligibility criteria and other requirements. So , if you did not clear JEE exams no problem, take engineering from a recognized university and start preparing for these entrances too side by side.
All the best
Hello aspirant, hope you are doing good .
So, according to your question, to become a scientist at ISRO it's not at all necessary to clear JEE mains or advance if you don't want to . You can rather complete you B.Tech or B.E degree(with minimum 6.84 cgpa) from any college that you desire, because that's the qualification you need to apply for further exams to get in ISRO. With your B.Tech degree, you can sit for the ISRO recruitment examination, and if you can qualify that, you are all set to be a scientist/ engineer at ISRO.
Hope this helps you. Good Luck!!
