I want to shift my son who is class x from Karnatakato Mumbai for class xi & xii. Can he appear for kcet. My domicile is Karnataka.

Admission to Medical colleges is on the basis of scores in the NEET examination. Counselling for admission to state quota seats is conducted by the State authorities. For Karnataka, the counselling is conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

Eligibility criteria requirement for Karnataka MBBS admissions is as follows-

1. The candidate should have studied for a minimum of seven years in a Government recognized institute located in the state of Karnataka, or

2. The candidate should have passed Class XI and XII/1st and 2nd year PUC from a Government Institute located in Karnataka State and either of the candidate’s parents should have studied from Karnataka for a minimum of seven years, or

3. The candidate who has passed the qualifying examination from an institute located outside Karnataka can be eligible for Karnataka MBBS 2018 admission if either of his/her parent’s is a domicile of Karnataka state. In this case, the mother tongue of the candidate or either of the parent’s mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu or Kodava and the candidate has to give a Kannada language test.

Candidate have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for admission to MBBS course in under Karnataka state counselling. In your case, if your son will complete his class 11th and 12th studies from Maharashtra then the other requirements should be fulfilled. Domicile criteria, you are fulfilling as you have mentioned that you are a domicile of Karnataka. Candidate will also have to appear for a Kannada language test.
