Im in class 12 which course should I take? That helps to become an IAS..either degree or engineering?
Hii honey,
If you want to be an IAS ,then choose a college where attendence are too much required.
Yes it is true that many IITans crack UPSE in 1st attempt.but your aim is fixed from now.
so I thing instead of westing 4 years in engineering, you should focus on your UPSE Prepartion .
It will be helpfull for you.
even you should join a coaching centre after 12th exam.
hope you understand
thank you
Firstly dont too much think about it now. You can get too much time after your board than you can think more about it. As a 12 board student try to give maximum time to your study.
Let come to your question, In my opinion during your degree you have more time to prepare for UPSC while engineering can take your little more time to prepare for UPSC.
If you have technical background than you should go for engineering as there are many examples which qualify UPSC in their first attempt as a Engineering background .
If you lag in your technical background than you can go for degree as you will find more time for preparation .
You can watch YouTube video for more guidance.

As per your query you need to have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institute by the Government of India in order to apply for the exam. In terms of age requirement , you must be between 21 to 32 years of age to be eligible for the examination.
Hope it helps.
Thanks!
Hello Honey,
After class 12, the eligibility criteria of an IAS officer is to obtain graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognized university. Bachelor degree is the minimum qualification required to apply for the civil service exam. There is no minimum percentage required to be eligible for this exam. Good Luck with your future !!
Actually for the IAS preparation is more important so if your really interested or passionated on engineering then you go for it else please go for the degree no problem
If you opt for engineering it will help a lot for Exam of ias if you utilize the concepts and logics and other important topics from engineering
So this is my suggestion you should take the decision
For IAS eligibility is any degree
Good luck
I would suggest you to go for degree if you're having aim to become an ias. Because in degree course you you would found extra time for preparation inspite of that engineering course is little bit tough in comparison of degree because you have to give your completely focus on engineering.
Hope this will help you.
Good luck.
